For sale is a nice example of an original 1978 CR125 Elsinore. As you Honda fans know this is the type of bike Marty Smith raced for Honda. I would say this bike is in pretty good shape for being 37 year old. You would be hard pressed to find a running example of one of these in this price range. I have had this bike in storage for many years and have decided to sell it along with some of my other vintage bikes. When I removed it from storage I went through it prior to listing it. I cleaned the carb . installed a new air filter and spark plug and she fired right up. In it's current condition this could be a good bike for the collection or to ride around the neighborhood. However. if you plan on racing it you would need to do some work on it. I will go into detail below but if you have additional questions do not hesitate to contact me. I would be happy to answer them for you. *** The new owner will get a Bill of Sale along with the original Honda brochure and a new set of Oury red grips (see pictures)Bike details:Frame - frame is straight and I can not see any bends. cracks or repairsBodywork - front and back fenders are original with no cracks. There is some fading but they look pretty good for their age. Side panels look very good. There is some paint wear. Front number plate is original but I cracked. The tank has a few minor dings but overall I would say nice. Usually they are all banged up. The inside of the tank is clean with no rust. Suspension - forks. I would recommend seals and fresh oil if you plan on racing. The right tube has flacking of the chrome and pitting. I am not sure if it goes down into the travel area because I did not want to remove the fork boot. In the event that you want to race and decide to replace the fork tube they pop up on ebay all the time in the $30-50 range. Shocks shafts are clean but do leak a little oil. If you are going to race the bike you will need to rebuild the shocks. Motor - motor starts. runs and shifts as it should. If you are purchasing as a collector/rider the motor would be fine as is. If you plan on racing this bike you would probably want to do a top end. Also the engine numbers tab as well as part of the ignition cover is broken off. This is a common problem on the 74-78 CR 125's and was most likely caused by a thrown chain at some point in the bikes life. Kick starter is original and in nice shape but there I an aftermarket bolt and nut on it. Correct bolt and nut are available on ebay. Exhaust - Pipe is original and is in very nice condition. Wheels - rims are in pretty nice shape and the tires are brand new. Seat - seat is original and in overall decent shape. There is a small tear but it should be fine. Controls - throttle . ever and grips look original to me. Bars are scuffed up but you could have them powder coated satin black to look new again. SHIPPING: costs and arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. I don't mind holding the bike for a while once it is paid for. I realize it takes time to make shipping arrangements and I want to make this a stress free experience for the buyer. I do have a pretty good list of shippers I would be happy to pass on to you. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS - I have several Over sea's Shipping services that I can refer you to that will crate and ship to countries like Australia. New Zealand. UK as well as other country's in Europe if you require those services. PAYMENT: Deposit is nonrefundable. Balance payment is due within 7 days of the auction ending.
