RELISTED DUE TO NON PAYING BIDDER: Please do not bid if you do not have the funds to complete the deal.
Real Deal Barn Find 1947 Indian Chief ('47 engine) in a 1946 Chief frame, bviously not numbers matching engine and frame. Fresh from a farm building, ot really a barn but there were chickens and ducks living in the building. Bike still has dust, irt and feathers on it. This Indian is nearly complete and fairly correct although there are parts from at least a couple of different years present. It does run but I would not recommend running it much without an overhaul, t has sat for approximately 15 years before I got it. I flushed the engine and transmisstion, anks and cleaned the carb. After adding new fluids and a little 6volt battery, t started up with little effort. Oil pump works well and makes nice strong squirts of oil. Bike starts, uns, huffs and rattles like an old "as found" motorcycle. I will include a new 6 volt battery (acid not yet added, ew in the box) and a new reproduction battery hold down frog from Starklite Cycle. There are some incorrect and aftermarket parts, believe the exhaust is an older reproduction. The factory side stand and center stand are gone, ut there is a nicely functional side stand in front of the left footboard, ee pic. The footboards are cast aluminum and have the passenger extensions installed. The seat was recovered with vinyl years ago. Paint is older amateur work and there is amateur body work visible under the paint. The rear of the front fender has been trimmed and may have had a mud flap at one time. The petcocks weep and seep, he wiring needs to be redone, he bars have been bent and straightened, robably a few times. Speedometer doesn't work at present and the high speed indicator is stuck near 100 mph (not my doing!). The elderly previous owner bought this Indian in 1964 and put many miles on it so I was told. I have started this Indian a few times and ridden it around the block a couple of times but that is all. In my opinion, his bike needs a total mechanical overhaul to be roadworthy but I kind of like the old crusty cosmetics so restore or preserve, our choice. Clear Washington title. Please ask any questions early as I have a full schedule, will answer questions as soon as I can. Once the reserve is met it's open season. Winning bidder must make a $500.00 deposit within 48 hours and arrange the balance of the payment to be made within 7 calender days of auction end. I will accept wire transfer (buy pays ALL FEES) or cash in person for the balance. Buyer is responsible for ALL shipping costs but I will gladly assist with loading the motorcycle. I will ship to Europe and Japan. Local viewing is ok, lease contact me through this listing. Did I forget anything???? Please ask. Thanks for looking.
