This JPN Special started life as a standard 1974 850 Commando. I purchased it in 1985 in Ohio as a platform to convert to the very cool JPN version. I ordered a complete JPN kit from Sprint Mfg. in England ( I was told that Sprint made all the JPN fairings for Norton ) in 1988 and had it air freighted into Hartford CT. Working on the bike part time. I completed the kit in 1990 and drove it 100 miles to a Norton rally in Auburn MA. THIS bike has RIGHT HAND shift. true to the few factory JPN bikes made. After that. the bike sat in a heated office until 2014. and then in my heated basement. I am selling due to 3 other bike projects. 64 years old. and moving soon. This bike has S/S spokes by Buchanan's frame shop in CA. I have the original spokes too. Some S/S hardware is on the bike and the rocker cover plates are S/S. A Boyer Bransden Electronic ignition system allows the bike to start only after 2-3 kicks. The carbs were properly cleaned. all the internal jets. gaskets. components (other than the slides ) were replaced. The fuel lines were 100% replaced along with 2 external fuel filters. Both fuel valves were rebuilt and operate smooth. The carbs may need to be fine tuned. BRAND NEW YUASA no spill battery. made in USA. all new master and slave front brake rubber components along with a new master brake piston. The internal master and slave components were 100% free of corrosion and I filled the system with DOT 5 silicone break fluid. The new front pads have zero miles on them. The front hydraulic hose was replaced with an Earls S/S and Teflon hose that I covered with rubber hose to look like an original item. the stock but old hose is included. Both side covers were just powder coated satin black. The original tool kit and pouch is part of the bike. The fuel tank. completely hidden from view DOES have areas of paint wear / blemish but no dents The tank DID NOT leak but it was cleaned with an organic rust remover and coated with Caswell Dragons Blood Epoxy sealer. not the cheap plastic stuff. All original manuals. owners. JPN supplement. JPN parts list. sales brochures ( NOT reprints ). nbsp; a REAL issue of CYCLE magazine. December 1974 featuring the JPN on the front cover. along with the ACTUAL Bell helmet that the rider was wearing in the magazine. that helmet had a color design made special for that road test. the helmet inside has dry rot and cannot be used other than display. ALL the Sprint / JPN kit instructions. wiring charts. shipping documents. Boyer documents are included. Various JPN pictures. tune up tips and a new unused head gasket are part of this sale. An oil cooler sits in front of the engine. The tires on the bike have only low miles on them. and look new. K81 front. TT 100 rear. A NOS set of the same tires still with the Dunlap labels and bound with tape is included. The bike is fitted with the single seat. the dual seat with keyed / locking storage compartment is included. Two sets of keys. hard to get black chrome front pipes. the special JPN license plate bracket. NO cracks in the white Gel coat. excellent engine compression. no rust. all the wheels free of rust. With all that said. the bike is used. NOT restored but in good shape. low mileage. so wear and tear can be expected. Yes. it is British and does leak a little oil. I simply do not have the time to take this bike to the next level. All that is needed is someone with more time than me to finish the "tweaks". however it still looks sharp as it is. The frame does have some areas of paint blemishes. The bike. as far as I know has never been down. This is an AS IS SALE.
