The bike was restored from the ground up by Commando expert Welby Reynolds of the Classic Bike Experience in Vermont over the course of two years. The previous owner had bought the bike from the original owner. who disassembled the bike with intentions of restoring it. but never got around to it. According to the previous owner. this bike started life as a high rider as well. The bike only has a few imperfections- two tiny (size of a pen head) chips on the left side cover that are being color matched and touched up. and two slightly chipped head fins on the right side of the motor. The missing toggle switch on the headlight is being replaced. We rode the bike to the 22nd annual gathering of the Nortons on April 19th. about a 200 mile roundtrip. The bike performed flawlessly all day long with really punchy power. tight handling. consistent 1 kick starting and perfect 1000rpm idle. Before the Nortons meet. we synced the carbs. adjusted the clutch. changed primary fluid. and cleaned up some connections in the wiring harness. I have been riding the bike myself quite a bit between Manhattan and Brooklyn and it is one of the sportiest feeling Commandos I've ridden. Perfectly adjusted brakes. neutral is incredibly easy to find. excellent handling. All brightwork excellent. paint is outstanding. All signals. lights and horn function properly.
