Up for bid is a completely restored 1974 Norton Roadster Commando MKII. For detailed questions please call me direct Bill Rhodes (406) 595-5309 All receipts were kept of the restoration of this bike. Along with a few pictures that are not in digital format. The engine was rebuilt by Jack Simmons which I knew from the machine shop he had in Compton. Ca. for over 30 years. He is well known for rebuilding these British bikes. I found him in Lenore. Idaho with a machine shop next to his home. I had him do the rebuild work on just the engine. The rebuild included new rods and pistons. Along with a machined crankshaft. An extended exhaust thread conversions kit was designed several years ago and was added to the exhaust ports to help insure snugness and future issues with loosening that was often seen on these and other threaded type ports. The frame was powder coated and ready for assembly. I found the lead mechanic for Harley Davidson of Belgrade. Montana was from Britain. Dave Jillard knew these bikes well and was hired to rebuild the transmission and isolistic system. He upgraded the ignition system to electronic and installed the engine. trans and exhaust. In spring of 2012 we took the bike to “The Bike Shop” of Bozeman. Montana. The owner Nathan Houser and Dave Jillard teamed up and finish the restoration. Every aspect was attend to during the restoration with over$8000 in receipts not including the labor or having the tank and side covers painted by Jeff Turner Owner/Operator of JD custom paints of Belgrade Montana. I have both the commando letters for the side covers and the Norton letters for both sides of the tank. But. decided to let the winning bidder decide to install them or leave it the way it is. This bike has been started only 5 times. And. only driven once by me for less than 3 miles. It was in my man cave for over a year and has always been kept inside in a controlled atmosphere. Has a clear Montana title in my name and looking for a home. All serious bidders are encouraged to come look at this remarkable example of British engineering and listen to it run. Located in southern Montana just outside of Bozeman. For detailed questions please call me direct Bill Rhodes (406) 595-5309 If for some reason I'm unavailable I can assure I will return all calls if you leave a short message.
