Matchless Norton G15CSR 1965

This rare 1965 model (Titled 1967 but numbers are 1965) Matchless G15CSR is offered for sale as a totally disassembled but rebuildable project bike. The G15CSR is a factory-built 'hybrid'. which has a Matchless frame married to a 750 cc engine from the Norton Atlas. It was made in small numbers and marketed as a street performer version of the G15CS off-road bike. It has matching engine and frame VIN numbers 112623 and a clear PA title in my name. I estimate the bike to be around 70-75% complete. but the bike has never been together during my ownership so I cannot say for sure how things will fit. Engine: The head is excellent. refurbished with new. but not installed. valves. Barrels are +60. newly bored. one fin has a piece missing. NOS +60 flat-top Hepolite pistons & rings. One piston has a chipped ring groove. may or may not be serviceable. The engine includes both halves of crankcase (also numbers-match each other). timing cover. timing gears and chains. crankshaft (needs machining with new shells) with main bearings still on. con rods. engine sprocket. inner and outer clutch housing parts. K2F magneto. complete with old points. don't know if it sparks. Lacks head bolts. several other fasteners. Also lacks carbs and manifolds. Has tach drive. but needs repair or replacement. Gearbox: I have an AMC gearbox that is complete but disassembled. Its outer case does not fit the CSR but I think it will fit an Atlas or Commando. I believe internal parts are identical for all the AMC units. Second gear has a tooth missing. the kick-start pawl and shift return spring needs to be replaced. Important for the CSR is that the order of gears displayed on the outside cover is reversed. as it should be for the CSR. very hard to find. Frame etc: main frame section (needs some TLC. cross beam has some heat damage. right down tube in slightly bent). rear swing arm. correct for CSR shaft. engine plates. gearbox plates. rear shocks (used original Girling. need TLC). oil tank. tool box (correct narrow one for CSR. I think. very rare). Missing many fasteners. including most engine mounting bolts and spacers. Missing chain guard. seat. foot pegs. Wheels and forks: both wheels (rims need to be re-chromed or replaced). Hubs. axles. rear sprocket. and brakes are complete. Complete Norton front forks. internal spring style. Metal fork shrouds. cross T's (upper and lower). Missing are fenders and struts. Have a handlebar. not sure if it is correct. Has front brake/choke lever. and brake and clutch cables. all in poor condition. Elecrical: has a chromed Lucas headlight shell but no lens. needs TLC. Has light switch. rectifier (2). zener diode (2). misc odds and ends. but no wiring harness. No tail light. Alternator stator and 2 rotors. Other: correct 2. 2 gallon tank. has been sitting a while. has surface rust. but very usable. inside seems OK. some damaged areas need work. No instruments. no speedo drive or cable. Has NOS pipes. some external rust on one. not sure if they are correct for CSR. no mufflers. Generally missing lots of fasteners. Check out the photos: what you see is what you get. with no warranty.
