I’m selling my 1973 Norton Commando, ebuilt in true café style, ith modern upgrades. Century Motorcycles in San Pedro has done most of the maintenance as well as rebuilt the motor about three years ago.It included new rods, istons, earings - turned the crank and resurfaced the cylinders. Additionally I had the head gone through about 4 years ago. When I got the bike the exhaust threads were burned out so I sent it to a norton specialist shop up in WA. or Or. - cant remember. Anyway they put in new exhaust threads, eseated the valves, hecked springs and did the guides etc.The bike has ±27k original miles and only about 800 miles on the new rebuild.JayLaRossa, frequently featured bike builder in café racer magazine TV show, id the paint…a masterful, intage aged look with painted Norton badges. The idea was to make it look like it had been on the racetrack for 50 years and it harkens back to the Norton race-winning heyday. The '73 850 MKII norton were the last of the nortons to come with a kickstart only and in my opinion is the best looking model they made. Its not cluttered with starters that didnt work, inkage switching the shift side and brake and all the other parts that made the engine look cluttered. Its just beautifully basic, ou and an engine. One up and three down shifting on the right side. It really is a historic representation of the best of 1960's motorcycle technology. The bike runs great & starts easy, n part because of the many upgrades including: a pro-arc digital ignition, ingle carb conversion kit with larger AMAL carb from Clubman Racing, erformance air cleaner and updated voltage regulator and rectifier. The circuitry was converted to 12v negative ground, hich makes the ability to use aftermarket pieces more readily available.Modifications to the frame and oiling include a custom fabricated center oil reservoir, hich really cleans up the engine compartment and shows off the beautiful original lines of the cast aluminum engine covers. The rear hoop was shortened, he fender dropped down over the rear wheel a bit, rake light, attery, nd ignition switch relocated and a billet aluminum piece was fabricated to attach the rear fender without the bulky plastic original brake light assembly. The front seat is custom fabricated using the original seat pan and the front handlebars are café style which really lowers the profile of the bike overall and feels great on the twisties. The original tach has been converted to an electronic version and the original speedo works great. The front fairing is an extensively modified full fairing, lso purchased from Clubman Racing, hich was shaped to fit the bike and a front headlight capability added. The bike has the ability to run with or without the fairing and looks cool either way, ust takes about 10 minutes and four bolts to convert over. The original fiberglass tank is intact and has been re-glassed on the outside as well as coated in the inside to be compatible with new fuel mixes.Tires are about a year old and practically new, rakes pads have been replaced, ew fuel petcocks, nd a quick twist throttle added. The exhaust is new with 6” shorty mufflers, hich I love for its uncorked thump. The Norton runs and drives great and has given me great pleasure zipping around on Mulholland Dr. and PCH but it’s time to pass to baton on to the next affectionato. This bike never ceases to garner a great amount of attention at any bike get together – it’s really fun to see how popular it is. Everything on this bike was done to an extraordinary standard. As it sits in its completed form, t is a wonderful and unique café build like no other.Original dual carbs and manifolds are included in sale.Bike is numbers matching.Feel free to contact me with specific questions if you have any or if I can offer any additional information about the bike. I'm happy to help the buyer with shipping arrangements however all shipping costs would be by the buyer.
