This following is a brief history on this bike:
Suhl is located in the southern part of former East Germany. In the early 20s the company SIMSON manufactured big luxurious cars, ycles and weapons. After the second world war the Russians took over (because of weapon-manufacturing) and they founded the "Awto Welo" better known as AWO (it means car and cycle company). Motorcycles were manufactured beginning in 1952 and up to 1962 (?). The AWO 425 T is a single cylinder 250 cc, 2 hp, our stroke, rank-shaft drive touring model. The AWO 425 T is very similar to the BMW R 26 (after war model) because the commies were adept at copying other technology and then making it their own. They look the same and some parts areinterchangeable but don't count on it.Production of these beloved models was stopped around 1963 in favor of the two-stroke MZ-models.
