1956 Matchless G45 Road Racer

Very rare G45. Al Gunter history. 1 of 10 Special coded G45 /G/9. This is the first of the 10. with Al Gunter # 230. These were Special ordered by the Matchless Distributer to sneak around the AMA. while the bike was represented as a G/9 road bike. they were really full blown Factory G45 Racers. The engine was rebuilt by Ed Crowell and has never been run. The bike last came from the ( Michael Taggart Collection in 2011. I just noticed that there is a small repair on left side of the seat. that I did not notice when I got the bike a few years ago. I talked to Mr. Taggart last month and he said the bike was started up with the help of Virgil Elings at a bike show. My friend Richard Klatt did the restoration with the help of his friends Crowell and Rightmeyer. The last picture is of Richard Klatt with the DelMar Trophy.
