2006 Suzuki LS650/Savage/S403600 Total miles (~600 miles since transformation)Suzuki S40/Savages are known as very reliable and easy to ride beginner bikes. Single cylinder 650CC air cooled engine and very light. they are an excellent candidate for a cafe racer transformation due to the modern day reliability and electronics with classic looks. The bike started out as a stock cruiser and was completely take apart to transform it into the cafe racer seen in the pictures. If you are not familiar with the RYCA cafe racer kits go to RYCA. com and see what they offer. All the work to the bike was done by me with the exception of paint and powder coat. I have documented the entire process of the transformation in a blog that can be seen at the suzuki savage forum by searching for my user name "gheorghe". E-mail me and I can send a link tot he blog. The transformation started with ordering the Cafe Racer (CS-1) kit from RYCA which consisted of modified stock tank. complete seat with side panels. rear sets. clip-ons and hardware to put it together. I had stripped the stock bike to bare frame and shaved off the unnecessary brackets to make the frame look cleaner. The rear swing arm was shaved. modified to fit a taller tire and strengthened. The controls were taken apart and shaved for a smoother look then powder coated before being mounted on the clip-ons. Every part of the motorcycle what was not painted was powder coated before being re-assembled. The wiring harness was also taken apart and any circuit that was not used. was grafted out. not just cut off and taped off like many transformations of this kind tend to do. This took many many hours of meticulous work. Everything was done with reliability and robustness in mind. All maintenance is up to date on the bike with new Rotella oil and K&N oil filter just being installed. new EBC brake pads and brake shoes.
