This is a decent example of a 1978 Yamaha YZ400E. If you are a Yamaha fan you know these models are getting hard to find in decent condition these days. This bike is over 35 years old. It is not a show piece it is rider quality. If you are mechanically inclined you could make this bike look really nice . As it sits now is exactly how it looked when I acquired it years ago. As long as it has been owned by me its been a display bike in the collection. It was started from time to time and always had the fuel drained Afterwards. If you are buying this bike to trail ride or add to your collection it is probably fine as is If you plan on racing it you will need to go through it and have additional work done to get the bike race ready. I will go into detail below but if you have additional questions do not hesitate to contact me. I would be happy to answer any questions for you. Thank's for looking!*** There is no title for this bike but the new owner will get a Bill of Sale. Bike details:Frame - frame seems to be stock and I don't see crushed tubes under the engine cradle. Bodywork - front fender . side panels and front number plate I am fairly confident are stock. I'm not sure if the rear fender because I did not see a part # on it is but it is in excellent shape. I am fairly certain the tank is aftermarket because it is so clean. All decal's look new as wellSuspension - forks are in nice shape with no leaks and no rust on the fork tubes and fork boot are in great shape. The fork seals were replaced by the previous owner and you can see they are brand new. I don't know much about monoshock's but it seems to have dampening. If you plan on racing this bike you may want to have it serviced (A rebuild parts kit is available through Racetech)Motor - motor starts. runs and shifts as it should and sounds good. If you plan on racing this bike a fresh set of rings and seal's would probably be a good idea(I have already ordered the seals. I replaced the ignition side seal already and the other seal will be included with the bike). This bike usually starts in 1- 2 kicks. Kick starter is original and in nice shape. Carb looks like the original and occasionally the needle set sticks (I ordered a brand new float needle set along with a new carb bowl gasket which will be included with the bike). The intake manifold does have some surface cracks but it works fine. If you are purchasing this bike to race you should probably replace this part (They are available brand new on ebay for around 60 bucks). I do have a new intake manifold gasket which will be included with the bike. Exhaust - Pipe & silencer are original. There has been a repair on the pipe (see close up picture) but it was done properly by brazing and can be filed smoother for repainting. Wheels - rims are in pretty good shape but the spoke's are not as nice. Back tire is 60% and front tire I around 85% . Rear sprocket & chain are new. Seat - seat seems original and in overall nice shape. Controls - throttle . ever's and grips look original and cables work fine. SHIPPING: costs and arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. I don't mind holding the bike for a while once it is paid for. I realize it takes time to make shipping arrangements and I want to make this a stress free experience for the buyer. I do have a pretty good list of shippers I would be happy to pass on to you. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS - I have several Over sea's Shipping services that I can refer you to that will crate and ship to countries like Australia. New Zealand.
