Description

"Bolas Purpura"1981 Yamaha XS650 Barn FindThe inspiration for this bike came from a combination of 70's Race bikes and the Japanese/ European "Brat" Style bikes. The Carr Brothers rode and raced Yamaha's in the mid to late 70's. and wanted that influence to show with the combination of the Brat Style in the bike they call " Bolas Purpura" (purple balls). The bike was completely stripped and disassembled. The frame had all unnecessary tabs. brackets. and mounting points removed and smoothed. A custom seat pan was fabricated and upholstered. Custom side panels were fabricated. slots were cut and filled with stainless steel mesh for a race inspired look. The wheels were disassembled. powder coated. and re-assembled using stainless steel spokes. new bearings. and new Dunlop tires and tubes. An original condition 1969 Yamaha GT60 gas tank was installed and left in its original condition for a Vintage Race inspired look as well. The Suspension is lowered front and rear featuring Honda Rebel rear shocks and shorter springs in the forks. The factory front fender was cut and re-mounted as a rear fender. then powder coated semi gloss black the match the side panels. The swing arm and front forks were powder coated gloss black to match the frame. The engine features a custom made 2 into 1 intake manifold fitted with a 38mm Harley Davidson CV carburetor. A custom exhaust was built and wrapped with Titanium header wrap. again for a race inspired look. The engine features a modern Electronic solid state ignition system and charging system. and features a large capacitor rather than a battery. The factory headlight is retained. sleek LED tail/run light and tag light are featured as well. Flat track style bars are used with Kawasaki ZX6 hand controls. finished off with a set of vintage style grips. The master cylinder features a minimalist style brake fluid reservoir also for a race inspired look. Custom gas tank badges were made as well as the lower front triple tree badge reflecting the bikes name. All of the gold parts are finished with an anodized look powder coat process for durability. The bike runs and rides great and usually starts with the first kick. The bike is being offered for sale for $4200. 00
