A rare 1973 AMC AMX with 401, 4-speed Go Pak option, Optional"Classic Black" exterior paintand the rare Pierre Cardin interior. Only one other known to exist with this engine, tranny and exterior color combo. Other options include A/C, P/S, P/DB, tinted glass, 15"x7" Slot style wheels, (tires in great shape), 4-speed console, Visibility group and (missing or replaced) factoryAM/FM 4-speaker stereo and front spoiler.
The car was driven new for several years by the original owner parked it in the mid 80's. Has 74k original miles and has sat in a virtual time warp for 30 years but parkedoutside.
The good: Most exterior trim is in nice shape, all glass is good. Has original keys.No rips or holes in the seats, seats and headliner in nice shape but faded. The interior is also in pretty nice shape. Most everything is there and has not been monkeyed with over the years. Never been in an accident.
The bad: Needs total restoration. Not running but does turn over. Shifter shifts around gears. Besides the obvious surface rust, and damage to the top of the right quarter panel (done by a tree branch), there is severe rust in the trunk floor and lower taillight panel (behind the bumper), inner and outer rockers, lower radiator cross member and around the battery tray. There is also a small rust hole in the right front floor pan, a couple very small holes in the right lower quarter and the left door jamb by the striker bolt. The doors, fenders and hood are good. The headers and exaust are rusted and deteriorated.
The good again. It comes with a rust free '74 Javelin body, from California, that has most, if not all, the body panels needed to replace and the body is very straight (damage to the front fenders and hood but you won't need those anyway). There is a small rust hole on the top of the right rear quarter panel next to the trunk lid(about a 1/4" by 1 1/2 inch spot). I am keeping most of the interior, doors, trunk lid and exterior trim but the rest is yours. I'm also including anice rear trunk lid and spoiler to replace the damaged one. It still has the cowl induction air cleaner but the flapper was missing when I got it.
An extremely rare car worthy of restoration.
