YOU ARE BIDDING ON A 1912 BUICK MODEL 28 ROADSTER THAT HAS BEEN IN THE SAME FAMILY SINCE 1944. THIS VEHICLE WAS ORIGINALLY OWNED BY A FAMILY IN NASHUA NH AND WAS PURCHASED BY THE NOYES BUICK COMPANY TO BE ADDED TO ITS COLLECTION OF BRASS ERA CARS IN IN THE EARLY 1930'S WITH ONLY 6,000 MILES ON IT. FROM THAT TIME UNTIL 1946 IT WAS STORED AND MAINTAINED BY THE NOYES BUICK COMPANY AND WAS TAKEN ON SEVERAL GLIDDEN TOURS BEGINNING IN 1946 WHERE IT WAS DRIVEN FROM BOSTON TO DETROIT AND CLEVELAND ON THE FIRST GLIDDEN TOUR REVIVAL. IT REMAINED WITH NOYES BUICK UNTIL 1944 WHEN THE DISTRIBUTORSHIP WAS TERMINATED AND AT THAT TIME WAS TRANSFERRED TO MY GRANDFATHER AS A RETIREMENT GIFT FOR HIS OVER 21 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE NOYES BUICK COMPANY AND DISTRIBUTORSHIP. IN 1947 IT WAS DRIVEN ON THE GLIDDEN TOUR THRU ALL ON NEW ENGLAND. IT WENT THROUGH A RESTORATION IN THE EARLY 1950'S AND REMAINS IN THAT CONDITION TODAY WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE NEWLY INSTALLED FULL LEATHER INTERIOR MATCHING THE ORIGINAL, HE NEW HAARTZ CLOTH TOP AND BOOT AND NEW TIRES. THIS CAR WAS DRIVEN BY GRANDFATHER ON MANY GLIDDEN TOURS INCLUDING OTTAWA CANADA WHERE IT TRAVELED OVER 800 MILES ROUND TRIP IN 1971. IT REMAINS IN EXCELLENT RUNNING CONDITION AND AS MY WIFE AND I COME CLOSE TO RETIREMENT WE ARE RELUCTANTLY SELLING IT MAINLY TO SEE IT FIND A NEW HOME WHERE IT WILL BE CARED FOR AND ENJOYED.
A LITTLE ABOUT GRANDFATHER; HE LIVED TO BE NEARLY 100 YEARS OLD AND WAS INVOLVED IN THE AUTOMOTIVE AND AVIATION COMMUNITIES HIS ENTIRE LIFE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF HIS MILITARY SERVICE DURING THE FIRST WORLD WAR FOR THE UK. HE WAS A CHARTER MEMBER OF THE SOCIETY OF AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERS AND UP UNTIL ABOUT FIVE YEARS BEFORE HIS DEATH LECTURED ANNUALLY AT MIT. HE WORKED FOR MANY COMPANIES BUT HIS PRIMARY EMPLOYER WAS THE NOYES BUICK COMPANY AND DISTRIBUTORSHIP IN BOSTON MASSACHUSETTS WHERE HE SERVED AS THE GENERAL SERVICE MANAGER OF THE DISTRIBUTORSHIP OPERATIONS WHICH INCLUDED OVER 100 LOCATIONS IN NEW ENGLAND. HE WAS THE INVENTOR AND HOLDER OF SEVERAL PATENTS WHICH WERE ALL SOLD TO THE BUICK MOTOR CAR COMPANY.
