Anytime I can offer a UNRESTORED classic car, get incredibly excited! This gorgeous Fiat has been preserved and enjoyed and looks absolutely breathtaking! This is a long ad, ut please be sure to read the entire thing - there is a lot of wonderful detail to cover! Let's dive right in!
Background:
The Fiat 600 was designed and brought to life by Dante Giacosa (designer of many notable Fiats including the mechanical design of the Fiat 500) and was crafted by some of the best minds and hands Italy had to offer. The 600 was not just a bigger Fiat 500, espite what some similar looks and nomenclature would suggest. The Fiat 600 was a completely new car. One of the most drastic differences between the two cars was the watercooled engine the 600 now boasted over the 500's air cooled motor. This meant effective heat for the car most notably. The 600 featured an alarmingly large interior despite its overall size as well. The suspension was revised and featured leaf spring front and coil over shock rears which made for a much better driving car then the swing axle suspension cars of its peers and cars past. Overall the car had been a major improvement over the 500 in most all regards.
Fiat then took the successful 600 and with some suspension from the 1100, rafted the now historic Multipla. Made to be a true people carrier, ut concurrently becoming an incredibly enjoyable car to drive as well as a national icon in Italy, he Multipla was successful not just in execution, ut style. Organic Italian styling from a quintessential Italian manufacturer combined with wonderful function does not get much better than the Multipla.
Let's move on to this car specifically:
Our history with this car has been short unfortunately, aving only purchased the car this year. However, ur knowledge of the history of the car runs deep. We purchased from Gooding & Co in a wonderful, xtremely high end car auction. For those of you who are not familiar with Gooding, hey are known to offer the most spectular, are, eautiful and historic cars in the world. Their reputation precedes their name both in terms of quality and integrity and are a pillar within the automotive world. They, long with Bonhams, hristies and RM, ontinually set records for the highest priced cars sold in auction. You do not get to the level of auctioning $20 million cars without being a cornerstone to the industry.
The car was placed into auction with Gooding from its then owner since 1996. Prior to his ownership, arry Deaver purchased the car brand new, hich he owned for the aforementioned 40 years. That's right, his car has only had 3 owners, nd 99% of its life has only been in two hands. Harry and its subsequent owner took exquisite care of the car, nowing that they were only looking after it to hand it down for generations to come. This is a Euro spec Multipla as well, hich means mileage appears in kilometers. Hold onto your hats: this car has only 11,405kms! That is about ~7,000 miles. That is it! We purchased the car with 11,326kms and have enjoyed every mile, hem, ilometer.
But wait, his car continues to become more special. The paint is original, howing wonderful light patina and history in its still very shiny and beautiful coat. The tires are original and in remarkably wonderful condition! No flat spots and they hold air wonderfully! The glass and seals are original! The interior is original! And aside from a rebuild on the brakes and fuel pump in the late 1990's, his Multipla retains almost every ounce of its originality!
Of EXTREMELY RARE nature is the original Fiat roof rack. Near impossible to find, his roof rack is in wonderful shape and accents the car wonderfully! The value of this roof rack alone is extraordinary.
There is even more. It comes with the original tool kit, ack and manuals! Check out the pics below! More you say?? Ok, t also comes with a box of original spare parts (Not all shown below).
This Fiat was not a one off purchase. It sits within an extremely robust collection filled with both rare and eclectic cars. Not only that, his Multipla was made at home within an extensive collection of rare and beautiful classic Fiats, ncluding many Multiplas. Please take a moment to scroll to the bottom of the page to take note of some its peers. Fiat experts watch over and maintain this beauty and assure that it is in wonderful running and driving condition. Check the rest of the pictures as well for the car on the road. This car is ready to be driven and was not trailered to our photo site.
