Description

I've been collecting Early Broncos since 1998 and have been an automotive professional for 40 years. I used to have one of the largest Early Bronco collections in the West with 10, ach one nicer than the other (including a rare one-off Holmann-Moody Stroppe Bronco recently sold) but over the last few years I've begun thinning the "herd," as it were.
Ms. Daisy is a one of a kind 1968 Ford Bronco that runs and drives as good as she looks. The list of desirable high dollar upgrades below is quite extensive. She's a real bargain at twice the price when you consider all the amazing upgrade components professionally installed on this unique rig.
I've owned her since Y2K. I'm the 3rd owner. She spent her first 32 years in one city, resno, California. Since then she has lived in Tucson, rizona. Neither of those towns have climates that promote rust. Ms. Daisy has absolutely no rust anywhere save perhaps the very thinnest layer on a couple small surfaces where the paint is thin (like the leading edge of the hood) or scratched. If you were to rub that rust off and weigh it there would be maybe a gram more than it had from the factory, o she's literally more than 99.99% rust free and that's mighty rare.
DRIVETRAIN:
The 5.0 EFI engine and matching AOD transmission drive train is from a 1989 Crown Victoria that was wrecked back in 1999 with only 60,000 miles. Currently it has about 68,000 miles, s she's only been driven an average of 500 miles per year since I've owned her. The engine runs perfect. Strong oil pressure. Always starts with a click of the key. Runs exceptionally smooth like a sewing machine. No knocks, o smoke, o issues. Valve cover gaskets are fresh.Absolutely no leaks. When she's cold or has been sitting more than a day she requires cycling the key on and off 3 times for the electric pump to prime the fuel for startup.
Stock radiator replaced with an aluminum unit designed specifically for the Early Bronco. Runs cool. 190 degrees. I added a steel protector to that radiator to prevent the fan blade from puncturing it should a motor mount ever fail. Both motor mounts are new.
The 4 speed AOD automatic overdrive transmission shifts smooth and precise as designed. It operates through a B&M floor shifter that was designed specifically for the AOD. It has a shift kit installed as well as a larger TCI aluminum drop oil pan with drain plug that allows 3 quarts more capacity. A transmission cooler was also added. The transmission doesn't leak.
She drives smooth & tight down the road with no rattles. She'll cruise nicely at 75 mph down the Interstate where the RPM is only around 2200 thanks to the AOD. I wouldn't hesitate to drive her straight to New Jersey adding nothing but fuel but it would be quite a long adventure in an open cockpit vehicle.
An Advanced Adapter at the back of the AOD mates not one but two Dana 20 transfer cases (really one and a half) using another Advanced Adapter called "Cold Duck" which is supported by a custom removable cross member. In compound low range you can jump out of the truck and walk faster than it! The second stick simply pushes forward anytime you wish to double whatever gear ratio you're in at the moment. Pretty darn cool! The t-cases don't leak.
AXLES:
The front & rear differentials both have 5.38 Superior gears and Detroit lockers. No leaks or issues.
The Front Axlewas converted to an Early Bronco disc brake Dana 44. The pads, alipers and rotors are all new. They work great. The front calipers still have the golden zinc color on them. (For the record they are calipers from a 1972 Monte Carlo).
The entire front end has all new parts professionally replaced.
4 New Superior Chrome Molly axle shafts with CTM greasable u-joints plus new seals & gear oil.
New wheel bearings and seals.
Custom high angle drive shaft.
New F150 power steering gear box with frame reinforcement.
New tie rod, od ends, rag link, lus upper and lower ball joints.
2" Wild Horses body lift kit plus 5.5" WH suspension lift with progressive rate coils with drop track bar and drop radius arms.
Dual Rancho 9000 adjustable long travel shocks mounted to Wild Horses shock hoops.
Superior 5.38 gears with full carrier Detroit locker.
The Rear Axle is a big bearing Ford 9 inch that has been upgraded to 31 splines with Currie Chrome Molly axle shafts.
Superior 5.38 gears with full carrier Detroit locker.
New bearings and seals plus fresh gear oil.
Rear disc brake conversion with Caddy Eldorado calipers.
Custom rear high angle drive shaft with 1 ton CV and 1350 u-joints.
5.5 inch lift Wild Horses 11 pack progressive leaf springs. Designed to be smooth and flexy.
A pair of Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks are run out back with the mounts in place to add 2 more if wanted.
23 gallon NorthWest steel fuel tank with internal pump high volume EFI pump.
STANCE:
The tires are 37x13.5x15 Toyo Mud Terrains mounted and balanced on 15x10 aluminum American Racing rims. About 60% tread. No dry rot. No rock rash.
Both front and rear axles have 1.5" billet aluminum wheel spacers with grade 10 studs made by SpyderTrax which means the stance is 3 inches wider than stock.
The stance looks wide, eefy and just plain cool.
BODY:
This vehicle is almost half a century old. The body is totally rust free and bondo free. The factory paint was originally blue and was painted white and interior LineX yellow by the 2nd owner. The white paint was not done to high quality but was rugged and acceptable for my purposes. Over the last 16 years I've added some inevitable minor blemishes to the sheet metal on various trail runs. I've shown them close up in the last 5 pictures. The parts that show scratched paint are just that, cratches from a sandy wash, ot dents. The blemishes are as follows: 1) LR quarter panel has a paint rub near the top from a sandy wash and a couple minor dings. 2) RR quarter also has one tiny ding and a slight paint rub from a sandy wash. 3) Hood has a small divot from when a wind gust blew it up and back when hood was propped up. 4) On top of LF fender there's a divot about size of quarter that was there when I got her. 4) On tailgate, idden by current spare, here's a small divot at the 2 holes where the original tailgate spare hanger was hung. Was there when I got her.
The original doors and steel top were sold long ago as they just aren't desirable in a town where almost 300 days a year are cloudless.
Roadster fiberglass door inserts, 6 point roll cage and a bikini top were added.
4 Gorilla War Flares were professionally riveted to the 4 fender wells.
Front and rear Protofab bumpers were professionally installed with grade 8 hardware. The front bumper has a receiver hitch built in with a Warn electric plug wired for the ability to run a cradle mounted winch. Pair of extra 8 inch Pro Comp lights are mounted and operate with a 75 amp switch on the dash.
The rear Protofab bumper has a receiver hitch and uses a cam lever to hold a full size spare. Spare is a 35x12.5x15 MTR on a 15x8 steel wheel.
1/4" thick steel Protofab rock skis were professionally installed. They hug and wrap around the rocker panel perfectly.
INTERIOR:
The interior had 1/4" thick yellow Line X added throughout. The black, hite & yellow color theme inspired the name Ms. Daisy.
An $800 pair of PRP seats designed specifically for the Early Bronco complete with new sliders plus the black & yellow Ms. Daisy theme were just added this year. Needless to say she's very comfy to sit in.
A Grant GT steering wheel was installed.
A large face Autometer tachometer with shift light has been mounted to steering column.
A marine Battery Buddy has been installed under the hood near the battery to protect battery from being drained during periods of inactivity.
The turn signals work but the lever interfered with the Grant steering wheel when wheeling so lever was removed.
The gas gauge works.
The windshield wipers are the original vacuum driven kind and have never been hooked up. There's just not enough rain in Tucson and RainX works way better than wipers. Keep Rain X in the glove box and forget about wipers.
Speaking of glove box, he vin tag is affixed to the original glove box door. The roll cage prevents door from opening fully so I used a mirror when needing to prove vin # back when I used to take her through emissions every year. She always passed (of course with an EFI motor) but I wised up and discovered Grundy Worldwide Collector Car Insurance which means emissions is waived in any State and only costs about $140 a year for $15,000 of Full Coverage protection.
The Simpson style canvas lap belts are old and should be replaced.
The Clarion stereo CD deck works well through the speaker bar mounted to top hoop of roll cage. There are 2 working adjustable interior lights on that speaker bar as well.
There is a working Uniden 40 channel CB mounted in dash.
The odometer shows a little over 14k but it has never worked, or has the speedo They were never needed. Experienced drivers know how fast they're going, specially in an open cockpit vehicle. The oil pressure & water temp gauges are aftermarket and work fine. An educated guess would say that the chassis has 122k miles since it left the factory.
Vehicle has a clean & clear notarized Arizona title showing previous title was from Fresno, A.

1) There is a typo error in the "final balance payment" instructions which should read "72 hours" after auction close -- not 22 hours.
2) It should be also noted the custom exhaust system features a single Flowmaster muffler (shown in 1 picture) which sounds perfect (as most Flowmaster's do with the 5.0) very sexy, eep throaty but not too loud.
3) Hard to see in front end pics but there is front differential armor on the Dana 44, asically a rock cage which prevents the diff cover from getting bashed in on the trail.
4) Forgot to mention there are a pair of working Trail Lights, ka Rock Lights, ounted underneath the truck, asically a pair of waterproof tractor lights, ne near the front diff and one near the rear diff that both come on with the click of one switch on the dash so that you can see what's going on underneath the truck at night.
