1968 JAGUAR E-TYPE 4.2 LITER, ERIES 1.5, WO-SEATER COUPE. STUNNING DARK GREEN WITH SUEDE GREEN TRIM COLOR SCHEME. 4-SPEED. CHROME WIRE WHEELS. EXCELLENT, ATCHING NUMBERS CALIFORNIA CAR NEEDING SOME FINISHING. 76K ORIGINAL MILES.
Offered for sale, rom KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, s this very nice E-type Fixed Head Coupe. I purchased this car a few years ago from a dealer friend of mine in San Diego. It's been a California car from new and lived it's early life in Los Angeles. I have lots of old registrations, nsurance cards, eceipts, nd other paperwork for it so it's a nice car with a good California local history, nd it is a full matching numbers example. When I purchased the car it had been sitting since 1985. It was just a nice, sed, unning and driving car at that time, ut was parked inside a garage because of a braking issue. The rear calipers were leaking and needed a rebuild. Going through the receipts, here was a complete documented engine rebuild a few years prior to that. At some point the car ended up being stored outside under a tarp.I purchased the car and had it running the first day. The engine runs excellent on a can of gas with good oil pressure, o smoke or noises, nd seems very healthy. I wanted to keep this car as a usable road car for myself, o I set about to perform a full cosmetic and partial mechanical restoration.
The car was partially and carefully disassembled. It was then pressure washed in the engine compartment and and the undercarriage. Most of the exterior chrome was sent out for quality rechroming and is still wrapped up. The car received a replacement passenger floor, hich was the only rust area on the car. The body was completely stripped down to bare metal, ny small repairs were made, he bonnet was lightly sandblasted to make it clean. The car received quality body work and paintwork to excellent standards by an Jaguar E-type specialist, nd the results speak for themselves. The car is painted in very dark green "Balmoral Green" with a hint of fine metallic. It's very attractive on the E-type shape. The car's 2-year old paint could use a light polish before fitting up of the chrome, ubber, nd glass items. There is not one chip or scratch on the paintwork and since completion, nd the finish is excellent.
Additional work/items purchased include: -the 8 brake calipers re-sleeved in stainless steel, ut yet to be assembled with new kits provided
-a nice set of wheels and tires purchased-a complete new exhaust system
-new, igh quality, reen wool carpet kit including Hardura mats from K and H Upholstery-NOS body rubber for most of the car.-correct wool Broadcloth material for headliner restoration-restored, ainted fuel tank.-misc. NEW : engine rubber hoses, gnition tune-up, ir cleaner, ront and rear pads, rake master cylinder, ebuilt original brake booster, ater valve, il filter, uel pump, ew knock-off set.
I also had the interior seat set re-stuffed with new rubber seat diaphragms and bottom foam. The plan was to tidy up the interior trim and make it usable and presentable for now, ith that original look.
This car is 100% complete. Items not pictured but present are the excellent original front windshield and air cleaner triangle.
Overall, an excellent and desirable Series 1.5 Two-Seater Coupe in an original, breathtaking color scheme. This very original car offers a huge headstart on a restoration of an excellent California car with good history. Much time and money has been spent so far. A very attractive offering that needs easy finishing.
