Description

Always wanted a Lincoln Blackwood since they were new. couldn't afford it. Now I have two. Bought this one and am the third owner. Do not waste your money on a car fax. I will give you mine on this one. I did it before I bought it. The truck has 79. 00 and change and actual. Would drive it to Alaska without hesitating. Nothing wrong with it mechanically and no body damage. Windshield rock blemish on the left or driver side but no cracks. You cannot even see it in the picture. Very good original paint. No leaks either. Factory CD player. cassette. and moon roof all work. NICE. clean interior and am a NON smoker too. Drives good with no noises. No air bag or engine light issues. Great brakes. as I put two new rear calipers on it just after purchase. because the truck had been sitting for a couple of years and they had stuck. Replaced the pads as well just because. Bought this second one with less miles. but already had one. I really do not need it. and have two other trucks which is the ONLY reason I'm parting with it. This is not used car lot junk. I have watched these trucks on here for years and nobody goes into real detail about these very unique trucks. They all list the same items. which is just exactly what they are. the same. All 3500 or so of these trucks are the same. But. I suggest an internet search the 2002 Lincoln Blackwood history and you be intrigued by just what went into these vehicles. It is true they are all black and they are all alike. Also. that all the power items are standard on all of them. which includes the rear cover that protects the inside bed of the truck from outside intrusion and weather. But no one goes into specific detail. First off. this is a USA made truck in St. Louis. MO. These trucks have elaborate stainless steel inner panels in the bed on the sides with a carpet floor. A strip of factory neon lights on both long sides touch up the decor to an elegant level. The only option that was available in 2002 was GPS that required dealership upgrading after a couple of years. which could be expensive. All the trucks had as standard equipment. PS. PL. PW. AT. PB. AC. power sun/moon roof. cruise control. CD. cassette. color keyed floor mats(missing when I got it). front and rear consoles and leather bucket seats. aluminum 16" wheels. swing out tailgate doors. electric toneau cover. ABS. 5. 4 V-8 engine. and rear wheel drive. As far as the specific condition of my truck. I would rate it well above average at 12 yrs. old. Typical minor wear issues include driver seat wear. minor bumps and scuffs on the rubber bumper covers. and minor paint scratches. These trucks came with two key remotes. two keys. and one lock out key. This is a key you hide somewhere in case your locked out. I have only one key and two remotes. The tires are Yokohamas and like new. I personally do not like them because too me. they do not ride as good as a Michelin. The other Blackwood has 178000 miles and rides smoother BECAUSE of the Michelins on it. But that's my personal opinion. The factory floor mats are missing. but the front license plate bracket. is not. Most do not have that. The dash wood grain trim has a crack above the radio and the clock bezel has a crack. I am out of negatives on the truck and its condition. This truck runs perfect. I read up on Ford's issues with the 5. 4 spitting out spark plugs. This truck is not part of that issue. I checked that out before I bought my first one last year. The plugs are scheduled to be changed at 100. 00 miles. s these are not due. I can assure it is an all day job on a cold engine if you have never done them. This truck. gets 17 MPH on the highway if you drive civilized. I have made two trips from NC to FL and its a one stop trip from Raleigh to Tampa for a fill up. That sums up the mileage. Another thing about these you should know is the air bag suspension. Most do not understand how it works but if it is maintained. it is no problem. There are two rear rubber bags by the rear shocks. These fill with air if a heavy load in the rear is applied. Air is pumped by a pump under the hood. It is normal for this pump to cycle on briefly after the truck sits overnight. even longer if it sits several days. This is NORMAL. This is because with the age of the truck the rubber bags get dried out. One tip is to keep them soft is a shot of WD40 at every oil change to prolong their life. The air bags on this truck are fine and keep this truck at a level ride as this system on this truck works properly. I have towed with this truck and it does great. The transmission shifts fine and it has clean. red fluid. with no leaks. I have changed the engine oil and I used Motocraft 5W-20 and a Motocraft oil filter. air filter. and fuel filter. This motor does not smoke. make noise or leak either. There is no overheating issues and the antifreeze is good as well. I have taken well care of this truck as did its previous owner in Florida and want to emphasize that I love these trucks. The look is an eye catcher and it is almost certain someone will speak to you about it or admire it in a parking lot or if the chance arises. I bought it on a whelm and really do not need it. I am a very thorough person and picky about my stuff. The previous owner had it since 2005 and hardly drove it. If it was not for the fact I have another one. this truck would not be for sale. I have no intention of buying a new vehicle. This truck is in excellent and acceptable condition for what it is. I can only assure you in words that you can get a one way plane or train ticket from anywhere in NORTH AMERICA and upon your purchase and arrival. drive this truck anywhere home. And I mean anywhere. without fear of a breakdown. You might find a truck like this cheaper somewhere else. but not in THIS condition. mechanically or in appearance. I would like to add that on Sunday afternoon 2-22-15. someone knocked on my door who had seen the truck for sale on C L. He drove both of my Blackwoods the same route and distance. As we rode the second time. he admired both vehicles and stated that both vehicles are everything that I did they were. They are different as night and day. but not in a negative way and both are NICE vehicles. He said that this truck is certainly the one he would buy. I told him this truck was on ebay and he said I should have no problem getting the money I want for it. Hopefully. this "tire kicker" as he called himself. will acknowledge his experience with the road tests of my Blackwoods. Email any questions and thanks for looking.
