Description

PERFECT FOR SHOWROOM OR CLASSIC AUTO MALL DISPLAYOR MAN CAVE MONUMENTONE OF A KIND OPPORTUNITY TO OWN THE1967 FORD AC COBRA STATIC DISPLAY PRESENTATION MODULEEXHIBITED IN THE 30th ANNIVERSARY OF THE AC FORD COBRA GALLERY/EXHIBIT AT THE 1 9 9 2 D E T R O I T. C H I C A G O & N E W Y O R K NORTH AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW I am very excited to offer my very historic and one of a kind. full size. very authentic looking. fiberglass 1967 Ford Cobra Static Display Presentation Module custom designed. used and constructed (at great expense) for the commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of Carroll Shelby's Ford AC Cobra exhibition/display gallery for the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Chicago and New York for the 1992 season. This full sized. unique. industrially designed and constructed fiberglass (replica) display presentation of the AC Cobra was originally manufactured to give a 3 minute audio and visual historical presentation of Carroll Shelby and his Ford AC Cobra with a small television monitor (now missing) in the center console and 8 speakers throughout the cockpit area to play an "exhilarating" 3 minute loop for the NAIAS (North American International Auto Show) visitors. The first two days of the 1992 North American International Auto Show at Cobo Hall in Detroit were media and exclusive industry black tie events where the press. distinguished guests and celebrities are invited to mingle with auto executives. industry insiders and of course. sales representatives. The 30th Anniversary Ford Cobra Commemoration exhibit at the 1992 International Auto Show was mightily overshadowed by the unveiling of the much touted Dodge Viper RT 10 Roadster (as difficult as this is to imagine today). By consumer polls. auto experts. print and television media accounts. the Dodge Viper gallery/exhibit was the most hyped. congested and visited gallery at the 1992 NAIAS and easily won the sports car exhibition battle at Cobo Hall in 1992 as there was also an exact "red" static photo op fiberglass full size mock-up of the Dodge Viper RT 10 at the Chrysler gallery exhibition . The Dodge Viper predictably and clearly won the North American International Auto Show battle in 1992. but absolutely no one today will disagree that the Ford AC Cobra has definitely won the war! In the early 1990's. you could still buy an original 1967 Ford Cobra for less than $100. 00. That same Ford AC Cobra today will cost well over $1. 5 million. so the explosive appreciation (financially and otherwise) of the Ford AC Cobra had yet to literally skyrocket. And as for the then very expensive Dodge Viper RT 10 ($77. 00) the depreciation has been slow but steady. today one can buy the Dodge Viper for less than $33. 00. This very rare and vintage former Ford 1992 North American International Auto Show Cobra Presentation Module as it sits today has been nearly forgotten and mildly neglected but the high quality paint job is still very presentable with some scratches and scuffs however. Also. the presentation display module no longer sports the 6-8 cockpit speakers (housing and mesh) used for its historical 3 minute video loop presentation and is also missing its 10 inch television screen that was located in the center console. The 4 movable steel wheel "stands" with the universal "knock off" hub adapter will accommodate any size rim/tire and fits uniformly (moves around manually) into the wheel well (to simulate turning front tires). but only one Good Year rear racing slick (tire & simulated chrome hub shown) is included with this sale. The vinyl seats have some small rips and will need to be recovered for an appropriate presentation today. The red carpeted covered plywood base that supports the Cobra body comes apart into two large pieces and will fit through any 30" standard door opening and the fiberglass body lifts off from the base (as does the roll bar) and is easily transportable with just two men. And as can be seen by the photographs. the red carpet is now soiled and dirty and will need to be refitted with new carpeting to the still sturdy plywood base. I think a stark black automotive. tight "pile" carpeting would be deserving and elegant. There were no doors fitted with this display for ease of entry and exiting but there are manufacturer's today that sell exact fitting replica fiberglass Cobra doors (about $120 each). also if the new owner wishes to have a trunk it will have to be purchased (about $120) from a replica Cobra body supplier as this one has been lost to time. but the wire harness for the lights. stereo and speaker controls are still present in the trunk area. If the next owner wants to go all out with this vintage AC Cobra display then side chrome exhaust pipes can be purchased and installed for full visual effect. This entire Ford Cobra Presentation Display Module is very sturdily constructed and weighs approximately 500 pounds and was professionally designed and constructed (no cost spared) with industrial use. durability and transportability in mind. The bottomless budgets of American Automobile Manufacturers for their annual international auto shows is mind boggling as it is quite conceivable that this unit costs upwards $50. 00 to design and manufacture in early1991. This vintage. very historic AC Cobra display Module has had several owner's unsuccessfully attempt to bring it to full usefullness into the 21st century by utilizing it as a photo op in a Minnesota swap meet (with paid for . com advertising across the windshield as can be seen) and then later as an ego massaging "Man Cave" seating/Budweiser meeting area where it presently resides under utilized in a Red Wing. Minnesota garage of a successful inventor (area code 55066). however I am the sole and full owner of this unique and wonderful Cobra presentation mock-up. This one of a kind advertising AC Cobra module would be best suited for display again (I think) in some type of large classic or vintage car mall where it would be a very appropriate and dignified utilization of this beautiful module. to be exhibited among other vintage cars and appreciated by vintage car/Cobra enthusiasts. Perhaps another creative re-purpose of the unit could be a video game seating area for kids of prospective classic car buyers in such collector car auto malls. This historic. very high quality and very important life size Cobra static display NAIAS (North American International Auto Show) module has a bright future. and the price is right as it could not be replaced for thrice what I am asking here on eBay. This module can be deconstructed by a two man crew and shipped in a small-medium sized U HAUL. Shipping is the responsibility of the next fortunate owner. Don't wait. this rare. full sized Cobra display WILL NOT LAST LONG! Thanks for reading.
