Listed here is THE WINNINGEST GERHARDT USAC INDY CAR EVER BUILT. The Car is an Extremely Original FULLY DOCUMENTED 1967 Gerhardt USAC Indy Car. This Car was Driven by Gordon Johncock to an Overall 4th Place Finish in the 1967 USAC Championship Standings. Beaten Only by AJ Foyt, Mario Andretti, and Al Unser Sr.
This car was Sponsored by Jim Gilmore of Gilmore Broadcasting. The Race Car was parked after the 1967 Season and remained in the Gilmore Collection until his unfortunate death in 2001.
In 1967 the Car WON at Hanford Speedway in Hanford, finished 2nd at Trenton and Langhorne, 4th at Mont Tremblant, Milwaukee, and Phoenix, and again at Langhorne.
Gerhardt Race Cars were built by Fred Gerhardt of Fresno, CA. Fred Gerhardt's Every Day Business was building Truck Bodies. He Loved Race Cars and built a total of 41 in his Lifetime. He is Credited with Designing the Rear Lift Door that is used on all Modern Day Vehicle Transporters.
This Race Car was Originally Built AS IS in 1967 with the 4 Cam Ford Indy 500 Race Engine, and the Halibrand 2 Speed Trans Axle.
The Race Car was Repainted by Richard Deming before being parked. Richard Deming is the Gentleman from Grand Rapid Michigan who painted all of Gordon Johncocks Cars in the early days of his Racing Career.
This Race Car has NEVER SUSTAINED ANY DAMAGE to the CHASSIS. The Chassis Remains Un-Restored.
This car comes complete with a No Expense Sparred, Freshly Rebuild, State of the Art, Original 4 Cam Ford Engine, Rebuilt by Ed Pink Racing of Van Nuys, CA, and the Original Halibrand 2 Speed Trans Axle.
This Race Car and all of It's Parts are in Excellent Restored Condition. The car be delivered once the Freshly Rebuilt Ed Pink Engine is installed in the Car, or it can be purchased with the Engine out of the Car.
