1973 International Scout II
Convertible 4x4 V8 4-Speed
California Find
Up for auction is the very cool 1973 International Scout II. This unrestored original Scout was rescued from the dry California region and is very solid. It has the very desirable big V8 coupled to a 4-speed manual transmission. This iconic 4x4 starts up (every time...effortlessly), rives and runs great. All fluids have been checked and serviced. Its original orange paint shows very well for being 43 years old but does have the normal wear and tear that comes with buying a vintage SUV. The rockers, ender lips and body mounts are totally rust free and solid...the pics show how straight they are. There are two small front floor patches where new metal was welded in but are solid. The only other evidence of rust is two small eraser tip size holes on the front windshield cowl (easily filled). Therear cargo area is rust free as well. I've had a lot of Scouts and this one would be a great candidate for a soft restoration or simply keep as is and enjoy but it's not a pile of rust like you often find in the east and Midwest regions. The tires are brand new Goodyear 31x10.5x15 AT's with zero miles on them and mated to aluminum mag wheels. The interior is in great shape and all the glass is good. The fuel gauge is intermittent and seems to work when it wants to (shocker). Usually it's just an old sender that has gone bad. Clean California title is signed and ready to go. This a great opportunity to buy a sought after Scout II that is affordable and does not come with acrazy highprice tag that the restored Scoutsare now pulling. The reserve is low and fair...don't pass up this great opportunity to own a West Coast Scout.
HAGERTY Insurance recently said: "International SUV's are up 85%" and"These SUV's are going to be the big trend in car collecting".
