For sale is a 1956 Packard Executive 2-door hardtop. This is one of only 1032 made! (This is #867.) The car is in good mechanical condition but does need some attention to make it "top notch."
Quick stats:
--352 cubic inch V-8
--Has a good TwinUltramaticTransmission. Transmission cooler upgraded to an air Cooled unit. Over $3,000 recently invested to have THE local master Packard expert go over the transmission and engine.
--New heads, valves, rocker shafts, lifters, starter, water pump, fuel pump, radiator, upgraded oil pump installed, carb rebuilt. Engine runs strong and smooth.
--New front-end kit installed.
--Gas tank cleaned and treated.
--New rubber windshield gasket, needs stainless trim installed. (trim included)
--Lots of Steele rubber products.
--Original grille isspectacular! (It wouldattract top dollar if parted out) Bumpers, script, and stainless trim are very presentable and have been re-installed with mostly new fasteners.
The Downside:
The interior. The front seat, back seat, and side trim in the back have been re-upholstered. The two door panels need a complete upholstery job, but all the parts are there, including correct fabric. A small amount of vinyl is needed. The headliner and dashboard could be repaired, but I think they should be replaced.
The exterior. From 10-20 feet it looks like a spectacular award winner. From 10 feet in, you can see flaws, mostly from shoddy pre-paint prep, that will take effort and money to correct. Body shop experts tell me that the paint work can be corrected without a total re-paint.
An identical Packard, described as being in extremely good condition, is up for sale at Autotrader for $35,000.
Asking $12,600 or best reasonable offer. Have close to $20K invested.
I've given it 8 years and now I need to move on. My loss is your gain!Cash or certified check only.
