For your consideration is a seldom seen Morris Minor 1000 Sedan that has been in storage for many years, acquired last year from a friend's estate. It was an East TN car that was restored back in the early 90's, having a full inside, outside and mechanical restoration, painted in a dove gray with gray cloth interior. I was acquainted with the former owner who restored it, and recall that he spared no expense when completing that restoration. (See photo showing the restoration) Some years later it was acquired by a friend, who began prepping it for paint again before he became ill, and the car was not finished. It is in overall presentable shape still but in need of a general restoration again, although as you will see from one of the pictures posted of the older restoration, much was done prior which should still be okay now. There is some amount of rustout on the floorboards even though it has been kept mostly in dry storage over recent years, but it appears to be superficial and non-structural in nature, and once the brakes and fuel system are put in good order, the car looks like it can be functional at that point. I do recall it was used as a daily driver by the gentleman's wife so may not require as much TLC as most of these you may find. The exterior body is not rusty with the exception of light cosmetic surface rust on door edges and the like, where paint is chipping. Both rockers and fenders look very solid. It was inspected recently by a body/paint man who is familiar with the cars and restores them, and he said the car was a very easy project and very straight and solid. All glass is good. Interior is older and will require some refurbishing to be perfect.
The car is presently at a British car restoration shop, and the shop mechanic had the car running with ether and he said it does seem to run okay. At this point before getting deeper into it, I have elected to move on to a BMW 2002 project that requires much more attention, and let the new owner finish the fuel system, brake and clutch hydraulics, and typical items that all British cars require after sitting. The brake drums were removed to inspect the wheel cylinders. All parts are relatively inexpensive and easily obtained from a number of suppliers.
I am selling this car in its as is condition with no warranties, and providing clear title in my name which will be signed over to the winning bidder. Payment of the deposit of $200 due within 24 hours of auction end, with the balance due in 10 days. The buyer will arrange shipping at buyer's expense, but I will meet and assist the shipper in loading. Any fees associated with payment of the balance should be absorbed by the buyer, as I am paying eBay fees and PayPal fees on the deposit.
Please feel free to ask questions or come view the car prior to auction end. I think you will find it a very good example of the mark that is a relatively easy restoration, yet I do encourage you to see it as it is difficult to describe all aspects of a car this age in a written ad with some photos. I will attempt to answer all questions to the best of my knowledge, although cannot assume liability for things I am unaware of. All sales are final with no partial or full reimbursement. The car is 57 years old and deserves an understanding appreciative new owner!
Thanks for attending this auction!
