1976 Porsche 911 “S” Targa 1976 Porsche 911 “S” Targa 1976 Porsche 911“S" Targa US Spec Chassis# 9116210667
In 1976 The Porsche 911 Was offered in a Targa version in both the standard 911 and in the 911"S" version we have on offer. This 911 "S" is equipped with the higher horsepower fuel injected 2.7L 6 cylinder motor, roducing 173 HP. The standard 911 produced only 150 HP.
This 911"S" Targa started life as a California car and has remained in Southern California for it's entire life. This great little Targa is finished in India Red with Black interior. From the records of ownership the 911 was sold new at Ogner Motorcars in Woodland Hills Ca, ne of California's oldest Ferrari and Porsche dealers. Ogner has since become the Auto Gallery. From the research we have complied, his vehicle was driven by then dealer principal Irv Ogner for it's first 700 miles then sold to it's first owner Bob Bell of Chatsworth California. Bob paid $15,600 for the car on Feb 13th 1976, his price included the AM/FM radio.
Bob owned the car for 2 years and put on 11,000 miles before passing this 911 on to it's second owner James Clifton of San Marino Ca. James bought the car on May 20th 1978, e drove the car from then until November 21st 1980 when he sold it with 44,000 miles to Ken and Carolyn Croker of Costa Mesa Ca. Ken being 44 years old at the time, nd an Aerospace Engineer, t is safe to say he was treating himself to a very special car that he owned for the next 20+ years. Ken serviced the car in his hometown of Costa Mesa at "Porsche Strasse". surprisingly Ken paid $14,750 for the car, lready then 911's had started to really retain their value. Porsche Strasse is one of California's oldest Porsche repair shops and still remain's in the same location today. http://autostrassecorp.com
The vehicle has records of two more owners, ne in La Verne California and the last in Pasadena. All records indicate this 911"S" has spent it's entire life in Southern California, t is certainly a treasure to find a no rust well cared for example. With 137,000 California miles on the odometer this 911"S" has certainly been enjoyed over the years. We believe that the vehicle has never sustained any damage from collision, rom inspection the overall condition is good for the year and mileage. With any vehicle that is 35+ years old, here are signs of wear and tear and road use, othing that we feel is excessive or worth mentioning in detail. The paint on the car is nice from 10 ft but upon close inspection has signs of fading and sun damage. A polish may bring new life to the original India red paint color. It runs and drives very well and would be a great car for the summer!
If you are looking to get into the air cooled 911 community and drive an open top fun car for the coming years, his 911"S" offers a great opportunity to enter a soaring 911 market with upside potential down the road. Like any 911, his 6-cylinder air cooled engine sings behind your ears when you are driving. Please note, ny inspections are available at any time prior to auction ending in Scottsdale Arizona. The seller can assist in arranging this should you wish. We have done our best to illustrate the condition accurately and ownership provenance a best we can.
