Description

Hello Everyone. I'm looking to sell my 1984 MK1 Rabbit with an ABA swap. I've owned the car for almost 3 years now and throughout my ownership. the car has been completely stripped to a shell and rebuilt. Here's what I've done: (NOTE: everything that I write as 'new' isn't literally brand new. but only has about 750 miles on them and were new when I put them in the car. ) Exterior: - The car has been completely stripped to a bare shell. put on a rotisserie. and all the rust was dealt with. The car was re-sprayed in it's original color. frost blue metallic. The paint and bodywork was done by my father (who has experience doing body work to his muscle cars) and I. I will say it is not perfect. but it did come out well and is very presentable. - The bottom of the car was power washed. sealed. and undercoated. - All the door and window seals are new. All the glass is original with the exception of the windshield. - All trim/ grilles/ mirrors were repainted 'trim black'. The door handles are new. - I put on a large duckbill spoiler bought new off of BFI. - All the lights are original from when I first bought the car. Interior: - It is the original interior; however. for being 31 years old. it still cleans up nice. - The drivers seat has a rip (as pictured). but the foam isn't damaged. I bought the car without a headliner. I didn't mind not having it so I never tried to source one. - I deleted the A/C and heat when I did the motor swap. but I have everything to install the heat back into it. Suspension/ Brakes: - The front control arms are new and have been fitted with BFI polyurethane bushings. - The manual steering rack is new and fitted with BFI polyurethane mounts. The inner and outer tire rods are new. and the steering knuckles where repainted black with new wheel bearings pressed in. - The car is fitted with new JOM Blueline coilovers with new upper strut mounts. - The rear beam was cleaned. painted. and installed with new BFI polyurethane bushings and wheel bearings. - The brake booster was repainted and the master cylinder is new. All the brake lines are new. The parking brake cables are new. The front brakes are overhauled with new rotors. pads. and calipers. The rear brakes are completely new including backing plates. springs. shoes. etc. - The wheels are Revolution RFX wheels in 14x6 et30. I had them powder coated gunmetal grey and put 185/60r14 Sumitomo HTR-1 tires on them. Engine/ Drivetrain: - I put in a completely regasketed (including head gasket and bolts) and painted obd2 aba engine with about 150. 00 miles on it. Converted it to obd1 by changing the wiring. ecu. intake manifold. throttle body. IAC. and intake boot. The water pump is new. the alternator is new. and the A/C has been deleted so no compressor. I put in a TT A/C delete pulley and belt kit. New knock. 02. coolant temp and crank sensors. The PCV valve is also new. - Internally. I installed a new Schrick 272 camshaft. TT HD dual valve springs. and spring retainers. seats. and followers. The motor runs well and pulls well. but due to the size of the cam has a rough idle. - I installed a custom computer EPROM (chip) for a mk1 ABA swap with my modifications installed. The whole ignition system is new as well. - The fuel tank. fuel filter. and fuel lines are all new. The injectors themselves aren't. but I put new O-rings on them. - It has a K&N rechargeable air filter. as the stock mk3 air-box doesn't fit in a mk1. - New BFI heavy-duty motor/ transmission mounts. - For an exhaust I used the stock mk3 manifold. then put on a new TT elongated downpipe. and a full TT 2. 25" aluminized exhaust with no catalytic converter. a TT resonator. and a Borla muffler. - The entire shift linkage has been rebuilt and I also installed a TT short throw shift kit. - I kept the 4K transmission (close ratio mk1 tranny) and installed a new reverse light switch. I replaced the clutch. starter. and axles when I first bought the car so they have about 250 miles on them and then were stored in my basement until the car was being put back together (In total only have about 1000 miles on them). - The wiring was done by a friend of mine who had done multiple mk1 ABA swaps before mine and knew what he was doing. He kept original mk1 harness and wired in the mk3 ABA engine harness to it. If you have any questions about the car feel free to ask away. You can email me at nmaguire28@gmail. com about the car.
