INTRODUCTION TO THIS LISTING :FOR SALE FROM SENIOR OWNED PRIVATE COLLECTION OF RARE EXOTIC ITALIAN MOTORCYCLES BRAND NEW 2006 BIMOTA SB8K SANTA MONICA Plus many custom upgrades . extras and spares . THIS IS A BRAND NEW MOTORCYCLE THAT HAS NEVER BEEN REGISTERED . NOR TITLED . NOR PLATED I own it outright and the sale of the bike will include the MSO ( Manufacturers Statement of Origin ) and a signed Bill of Sale . Please read the entire description of the motorcycle . I will start with the bikes history and then explain the many upgrades and custom additions . HISTORY OF THE BIKE : This BIMOTA SB8K Santa Monica is #8 of the 2006 model year and was originally imported into the USA by Bob Smith the BIMOTA USA Importer at that time . Of all of the SB8K Santa Monica bikes brought into the USA . this particular bike ( #8 ) with selected as the one example that Bob Smith himself purchased for his own personal private BIMOTA collection. So it was the Creme of the Crop . and the nicest example of the imported USA legal bikes ( this was a common practice and a fringe benefit of being the sole USA BIMOTA importer > Bob Smith would pick the "best " bike of each model that he wanted for his private collection . This over time meant that Bob had one of the very best BIMOTA collections in the North Americas . and the world for that manor ) . I had been / have been a long time customer and eventually a friend of Bob's and have own quite a few BIMOTAs in the last 20 years. Bob Smith eventually retired from the business of motorcycle imports . dealership . and eventually for personal reasons which I chose not to disclose . he eventually decided to get out of the hobby as well and sold off his entire collection of bikes and parts inventories . The next chapter in this bikes history : The bike originally one of Bob Smith's from his collection was sold to BIMOTA SPIRIT owned by Bob Steinbugler ( Bob of BIMOTA Spirit bought a number of bikes and many parts from Bob Smith when he retired and left motorcycling as both a business and hobby ) . The bike was kept in the BIMTOA Spirit collection until Bob contacted me and he and I actually traded one of my custom BIMOTAs for this brand new unused BIMOTA SB8K Santa Monica #8 . I have had the bike in my collection for a number of years . It has been kept in a climate controlled environment since it was imported and has never been titled . not registered and not plated . So it is still a brand new bike ( even though it was built as a 2006 model ) . While I have had the bike in my personal collection I have taken the liberty to make some upgrades and custom made improvements on the bike as I do with most of my collectors pieces . IMPORTANT NOTE : It is important to mention that the changes made to the bike as easily reversed . Everything that I have changed or modified is easily reversible so that the bike can easily be returned to its 100% original OEM out of the crate condition and set up. I often will make upgrades and custom changes to my bikes but I never do anything that is permanent . This is done so that the bike(s) can be returned to stock if and when so desired ( for resale for example : many buyers / collectors / museums like brand new stock OEM machines / not everyone likes a bike that has been altered unless the bike can easily be put back to factory specs ). This bike is brand new . It will come with the MSO ( Manufacturers Statement of Origins ) and a signed Bill Of Sale as I own the bike free and clear . DESCRIPTION OF THIS BIMOTA SB8K SANTA MONICA #8 ( 2006 Model Year made by BIMOTA of Italy / Imported by Moto Point the USA BIMOTA Importer ) This beautiful example of Italian motorcycle art was legally imported into the USA by Bob Smith of Moto Point the BIMOTA USA Importer at that time. It is a USA model that has passed all DOT specs and has the correct VIN and MSO / documentation to prove it ( I mention this to assure you that the bike is a USA legal machine that can be registered . titled . plated and used legally on the streets of the USA . it is not a "grey import " or illegal import bike ). I believe that it is 50 state legal but Im not absolutely positive of this . So if you live in a state with stiff limitations on the bikes it allows on the streets . please research this before buying. I live in Colorado and in our state bikes as easily made street legal . Because of this one thing I did ( and do to all of my bikes ) was to remove the emissions charcoal canister . and gas tank fume recycling system that is required in a few other USA states . I do this to both improve performance as well as to loss the excess unwanted / unneeded weight as well as the "junk" that the emissions controls add to a bike originally made without these add ons in the design . I think for example . if you live in California the emissions parts I removed would need to be reinstalled for street use. In my state the bike is totally legal without these items . so I removed them. I mention this because I believe in full disclosure . This brand new BIMOTA SB8K SANTA MONICA is a 2006 model year . USA Imported motorcycle . This particular model had a MSRP / Retail Price of $45900 USD . This was / is the most expensive model that BIMOTA has ever made. It has the highest specifications and the absolute best of OEM components and has the highest quality of fit and finish of any model BIMOTA had ever made . For a comparison price ; the 2000 model year BIMOTA SB8RS that used the same engine had a MSRP Retail price of only $23500 USD. If you simply take a close look at the bike ( please see the photos attached ) you can see that BIMOTA held nothing back to make this model the best liter class super bike ever made ( by any one at any time ). In fact this model cost BIMOTA more money to build than any other model the had made to this date of production. Compared to the SB8R / SB8RS model that preceded this model. the SB8K Santa Monica has a flawless execution and out classes the SB8RS my leaps and bounds ( I had owned 3 BIMOTA SB8RS bikes prior to this so Im well qualified to make these comparisons ) . Where BIMOTA had cut corners and often had left many things half done on earlier models . the SB8K Santa Monica was the flagship relaunch model that put BIMOTA back on the map after it had gotten into a bankrupt situation that that stopped all production and resulted in change of ownership prior to its recovery ( BIMOTA had lost a fortune with the ills of the BIMOTA Vee Due model . that ultimately broke the company ). BIMOTA had a number of unused SUZUKI TL 1000 V Twin Super Bike engines after they closed and stopped production of the last SB8R / SB8RS bikes ( they originally were to make 150 SB8RS model and 350 SB8R model bikes using the brilliant Suzuki TLR engine ) . After a change of ownership and a reorganization of the company . they decided to relaunch the brand with an entirely different model . while using the left over brand new Suzuki TLR engines . Rather than simply making more SB8R / SB8RS models . they decided to literally make the worlds best liter class V Twin Super Bike. The result of this dream was the development and production of the BIMOTA SB8K series model(s) ( SB8K / SB8K Gobert / and the top of the line SB8K Santa Monica ) If you look at this bike closely you will find that nothing was left undone . The absolute best components went into this model . The suspension is a specially made WSB Racing Ohlins both front and back. The brakes of corse are Brembo . The bike no longer is a mix of part carbon fiber and part plastics. Instead the SB8K Santa Monica is all carbon fiber everywhere . The wheels are specially made CNC machined forged racing wheels. Every where you look you will find newer and better parts used ( often made by hand or by CNC machined from billet . something that BIMOTA is famous for ) . The bike has a unique injection system ( the only bike in the world with this ) that has computer controlled tilting injectors that match the angle of the throttle body butterfly valves . The ECU also has 2 different modes / programs that you can pick and change as needed ( one mode for "Street " and the other mode for "Race " or aggressive riding ) . I wont go into to much more detail about the basic bike because a lot of this is available on the internet. I will say that the motorcycle magazines that did road test / review the bike actually loved the machine and a few even said that it was the perfect bike and or the best litter Super bike with a "V" twin engine ( these same critics found many problems with the BIMOTA SB8R / SB8RS models . but had only good things to say about the BIMOTA SB8K Santa Monica ). DESCRIPTION OF THE UPGRADES AND OR CUSTOM COMPONENTS ON THIS BIKE INCLUDE : The base SB8K Santa Monica is a fantastic bike right out of the crate. However . I decided to make some "improvements" on the bike . As already mentioned . these changes / custom upgrades are easily reversible so that the bike can easily be returned to its stock condition and set up ( none of these changes were done that required cutting or modifying the bike in any permanent way. so please keep this in mind as you read this section) . The bike as listed will include all of these upgrades / changes as they will be included at my asking price . If the buyer does not want any or all of these custom items then this can be negotiated ( the listing allows for buyers to make an offer on the bike and depending on what is discussed between the buyer and seller regarding price. these upgrades can be points of negotiation ) . Some of these listed upgrades / custom components are already on the bike . and some have not yet been put on the bike but will go with the bike if purchased at full asking price . Many of these upgrades are aftermarket pieces . and quite a few of them were custom made and or adapted / modified for this particular machine. CUSTOM UPGRADES INCLUDE: + Custom made GOLD anodized CNC machined billet aluminum Clutch Case Cover with the BIMOTA "B" logo on it + Custom made Carbon Fiber and GOLD anodized aluminum Front Sprocket Cover Guard with Titanium accents ( real Carbon Fiber and real race spec Titanium are used throughout the bike / no fake carbon or fake titanium was used ) + Special TITANIUM SIDE STAND from BIMOTA Racing + Ohlins BLACK Fork Cap Extensions for the R&T front forks + Ohlins Fork Cap Special Tools ( a number of special Ohlins fork tools included ) + CARBON FIBER Low Profile Racing MIRRORS with Titanium accents ( where ever a custom upgrade was done on the bike . real race spec Titanium fasteners were used to replace the stock OEM steel fasteners . from here on I will simply say TITANIUM ACCENTS to mean that Titanium fasteners were used on this item ) + MOTO CORSE Billet Aluminum Micro Turn Signals with special adaptors x 4 + Special BIMOTA Billet Aluminum Racing Control Levers with the BIMOTA "B" logo on them ( both front brake and clutch levers are special BIMOTA Racing parts ) + Titanium + RED Anodized Billet Aluminum Control Lever Adjustment Knobs + Titanium+ Specially Adapted / Modified GOLD anodized Billet Aluminum Frame / Fairing Sliders / Guards were made and modified to this bike with Special Custom made Adaptors were made so that these go on / off the bike as desired ( with no cutting or modifying of the bikes frame or fairing ) + Titanium + Special Magnesium CNC machined brackets + Titanium for the Fluid Reservoirs + Real Carbon Fiber Caps for all 3 of the Fluid Reservoirs on the bike ( Clutch . BIMOTA SPIRIT the dealer had special Epoxy Gas Tank Sealant put into the inside of the Carbon Tank before it was put on the bike . This was done to reinforce the gas tank for street use as the tank for the box is super light weight and was not made for the street . The epoxy coating makes the carbon tank safe for street use ) + Titanium+ Special Locking Carbon Fiber Gas Tank Cap / Filler assembly + Titanium ( this has its own set of keys ) + Special LED Racing Rear Tail Light Assembly + Titanium+ BIMOTA Racing GOLD anodized Rear Sets assemblies + Titanium + BREMBO GP Billet Magnesium Racing Rear Brake Micro Caliper and Pads + Titanium+ Specially made CNC machined Billet Rear Brake Caliper Adaptor Bracket ( to fit the Brembo GP Rear Caliper to the bike ) + Titanium + Titanium was used throughout the bike. When ever anything was changed or adjusted or customized the stock OEM steel fasteners where tossed and real race spec Titanium was used ( including many washers . nuts . drilled washers . spacers . lock nuts . screws . bolts . and so on and so on. ( I tend to really like Titanium on my bikes as well as real Carbon Fiber and machined Billet magnesium / aluminum components ) . )Hold on as there is more . + Carbon Fiber License Plate Brackets and Frames + Titanium + Carbon Fiber Racing Battery Holder Box ( for Smaller Racing Lithium Battery ) + Titanium Rear Ohlins Shock Absorber Spring + Billet components ( to replace the stock OEM steel / heavy rear shock spring with a real Racing Titanium Rear Spring / save lots of weight but also Titanium works better than steel ) + Spare GOLD anodized BIMOTA Rear Sprocket + Spare Front Sprockets ( various sizes / Racing Drilled Front Sprockets = Drilled tool steel . like GP / WSB ) + Complete removal of the Charcoal Canister . brackets . tubing. fasteners that make up the emissions system to recycle fuel fumes on the bike ( this is not required in my state so it can be removed and not used and be legal . check your states laws on this ) + Special BIMOTA Rear Stand in Black ( included with the bike ) + Special GOLD anodized Titanium Wind Screen Allen Head " Mushroom Head Screws ) / Fasteners replace the stock OEM steel + Battery Charger System / Harness ( to plug the battery into charger when the bike is not in use ) + Billet Aluminum CNC machined Aluminum Finned Oil Cooler / Filter Housing Unit ( with life time/ Cleanable = Re usable Stainless Steel Micro Screened Oil Filter assembly ) + Carbon Fiber BIMOTA Racing Rear Fender / Hugger Assembly ( Spare / Extra Parts ) + BIMOTA Racing Exhaust Mid Pipes Assembly ( Spare / Extra Parts = this part of the exhaust system is known to crack from long term aggressive racing / riding + This lists most of the things that have been done to the bike as well as custom upgrades that have not yet been put on the bike but will go with the purchase ( if buyer pays full asking price ) These upgrades and extras add up to many thousands of dollars additional to the cost of the bike itself. I know both of the other owners / collectors and I can say with complete confidence that this bike has been treated with only the best TLC possible as all 3 of us have treated this bike in order to keep it for our collections . The bike has always been kept in climate controlled conditions . with the tires / wheels up on stands to take the weight off of them when stored and or displayed. The bike has also been kept on a special battery charger system. Periodically the bike has been started and run and cleaned and waxed / polished to keep everything inside and outside in brand new condition ( more information and or details about this is available upon request ) . The bike has been set up and serviced and has the latest / best ECU maps from BIMOTA of Italy . The bike is set up so that it can and does run. so that it can on occasion be started and have the engine brought up to full operating temperatures and then after it is checked out . it is turned off to cool back down and then after being cleaned and waxed and polished it is returned to the collection ( these are the correct procedures to follow to keep a motorcycle healthy even in a collection over time . So this bike was made in 2006 and has been cared for on a professional level by its 3 owners / collectors. The bike is pristine and is actually in better than brand new condition. It has no known problems and is the cream of the crop / the first choice of all of the Santa Monica(s) that were imported into the USA / North America. Now we are in the year 2015. This Brand New bike is now 9 years old . Usually a bike like this is referred to as a NOS ( New Old Stock ) which means that it is a Brand New machine but of an Older Model Year Regarding the Retail Price for a NOS bike like this ( a Brand New 2006 BIMOTA SB8K Santa Monica ) : Bob at BIMOTA SPIRIT ( the biggest current BIMOTA USA Dealer / Collector ) happens to have 1 or 2 of these BIMOTA SB8K Santa Monica models in their inventory ( at least they use to have them ) .
