BMW 1970 R75/5: Matching numbers (2975764) 14. 69 original milesLandmark motorcycle: First year of electric start. first year of 12 volt electrics. first year of 750cc motor. first year with tachometer. The /5 series was produced from 1970-1973. The first two years of production had some unique features which are on this bike…the side reflectors are at the end of the turn signal posts on 1970 & 1971 models. In 1972 they were replaced with large (less attractive) reflectors on the side of the headlight bucket. The two part grab rail at the back of the seat is also unique to the 70’ & 71” models. The intake tubes into the carbs are a golden color… black in later models. First year Bing CV carbs were problematic. I replaced them with Mikunis. The originals Bings and intake tubes are included in the sale. A special feature of this particular bike is what appears to be extremely rare factory leather bags. The buckles have “Swiss made” stamped on them. One of the bags has a hand stitching repair on the back side. They can be removed with three wing-nuts. (Note: The seat will not raise up all the way with bags installed. )History: This bike had been stored for many years in Oregon.
