This Kawasaki KZ 1000 was built in 10/1977 as indicated by the VIN label. This is one of the cleanest examples I have seen in recent years. The Emerald Green paint with new decals has just been completed this past winter by master painter Russ Foy of Custom Classic Paintworks in Ravendale. Wa. The paint is stunning. The interior of the tank was cleaned as well. The original owner of the KZ 1000 must of really love this bike by rechroming the valve cover and side cases. There are forward chrome resting foot mounts in front that can easily be removed if needed. I was going to do a full up restoration (I am cursed by being meticulously) on this great example of the KZ series but I have too many other projects calling. If I were to keep her I would change the tires. sprockets and chain. It will also need a seat latch lock. All the parts are readily available from some great sources. Z1 parts. Z1 Enterprises. Johnny's Speed and Chrome. The odometer reading is just over 21. 00 miles. The 1015 cc engine runs strong without any indication of any issues. Title is clear in my name. So far I have put on a New seat. New turn signals with New short stems. New Tank and side cover emblems. New grab bar. New standard Kawasaki mirrors. the bars are original with new superbike grips. New plug wires. The period Kerker Header has been newly coated with Cermachrome by Performance Coatings in Kent. Washington. Look them up. "Brad" is awesome. The Kerker canister is polished also. I also put on an excellent aftermarket chain guard I had powder coated a nice satin black as well as a refurbished headlight bucket in the same satin black powdercoat. Really cleans up the this KZ1000. There is also an NHK Steering dampner added. The 28 mm Mukuni Carbs are completely rebuilt. (About $600) refurbished with soda blasting. New carb kits and new correct screws for the tops and fuel bowls. Tops and fuel bowl were also ceramic coated in Cermachrome. Pod filters with new 117. 5 main jets as well. The pilot jets were also upgrade along with bumping up the needles one notch for the mid range. This Mikuni carb has the accelerator pump as well to give the bike a better fuel response on the throttle. Runs excellent with this combination. The paint. ceramic coatings and all the parts I added alone would add up over $2000 I figured I had better stop to be able to just be able to break even. my work was free. This is a classic bike that is going up in value each year. I have watched the Z1's. Z1R's and the Mark II go out of sight. the KZ900 and the 1000's are starting to be recognized as the next collectable machines. I wish I had room to keep her but I can't justify keeping this great example of the KZ 1000. Green with gold stripes has been voted by many as best iconic collectable color. I have done most of the hard work. finding one in this shape. getting and putting on the new parts. the new paint. etc. all one needs is a few finishing touches and instant value. I will assist with shipping as I can. it is up to the new owner to arrange for that. As usual there is no warranty implied or otherwise on an older classic such as this. happy bidding now!
