New Page 1 If you are looking at this ad. you probably know about BMW’s GS-PD. and that 1995 was the last true PD. the 1996 being a black/chrome collector edition. Twenty years on. many still consider this the ultimate BMW Adventure Motorcycle. unencumbered by electronics. and easily maintained on the road. This particular 1995 BMW R1000GS-PD has never seen dirt. and rarely rain. and it looks it. It spent the first five years of its life in a Texas dealer’s office. as a keepsake. My friend bought it for a planned trip to Alaska. Due to family illness. he not only never went to Alaska. but only put less than 10. 00 miles on it in eight years. In the six years I’ve had it. the bike has covered a bit over 5. 00 miles. It is part of a small collection of mostly vintage motorcycles that I’ve built up over the last 25 years. The time has come (I’m 72 years old) for me to downsize a little. especially the larger bikes that I now find physically difficult to ride. This has to be one of the nicest PD’s around. It’s very low mileage. all original. no new paint or rechrome; yet it looks nearly new. There are a couple of stone chips on the engine guards and chin spoiler. but the upper bodywork is unmarked. The rims are nice. no dings or scuffs. The rear tire is a nearly new Metzeler Tourance. the front is original and near the wear markers. There is a year old gel battery and it is wired for a Battery Tender. I replaced the starter about five years ago. but otherwise it has required only standard maintenance. I have always run the bike on ethanol free fuel and Castrol Syntec oil. I have the desirable single-seat/rear rack setup as well as a Corbin double seat. Both are in perfect shape. This bike has probably the nicest. most complete airhead tool kit I’ve ever seen. I wouldn’t buy a bike for its tools. but it’s an added bonus when buying an original. classic motorcycle. The original owner’s manual. while somewhat stained. is also included. While I don’t have hard bags for it. I will happily throw in a three piece set of soft luggage. The bike is completely stock with the exception of a couple of minor upgrades. The rubber front brake line has been replaced by a black stainless steel line. I removed the EGR emissions hardware. and installed a kit to defeat the auto-retract “feature” of the side stand. I have all the original parts and they can each be easily reinstalled. This GS-PD is ready for whatever you want to do. It’s ready for that Alaska or Baja adventure. tour to Billings. Montana for the MOA national rally or wherever you want to go. While not a show pony. it won’t take more than a good detailing to prepare it to show or put on display. The motorcycle is for sale through other outlets and I reserve the right to end the auction early. Seriously interested buyers might be disappointed if they wait to the end of the auction. I add this warning because that is just what occurred in my recently concluded Moto Guzzi V7 Sport auction. I can’t ship this bike. but I will be happy to work with the buyer’s shipper to make for a smooth transfer. This auction is for US bidders only please. and those with little or no feedback are urged to contact me before bidding. If you have any questions about this motorcycle or the auction please do not hesitate to contact me. NOTE: This is a no reserve auction!
