1948 NORTON INTERNATIONAL ORIGINAL PAINT MATCHING NUMBER RARE BARN FIND

To many the garden gate Inter is THE quintessential English road going thumper. And here we have a superb example with the sought after used but not abused look. I have removed the top end of the engine so that you can see what truly beautiful condition it is inside. The cylinder head is in the best condition I have ever seen. I have the valves not shown There is zero vertical play in the rod and the flywheels are mirror polished. The magnesium cam box is excellent with none of the usual internal breakage from ham fisted mechanics. The cylinder is bored at +. 030 but should be rebored as there is some minor pitting. but no gouges. The generator appears to have been recently serviced and the magneto throws a strong spark at a slow turnover. Chains and sprockets look almost new. IT would appear the outer part of the battery box is missing and the license plate backing has been modified incorporating a larger than stock tail light. The first digit of the odometer is illegible so I do not know what the mileage is . The speedometer drive is there and in perfect condition but has to be put back on the bike. The correct Amal TT10 carburetor is in very good condition . the brass slide and bore showing minimal wear. The gas tank is in super condition ( check the photo of the underside!) as are the fenders and tool box etc. This is a great bike with matching serial numbers. don't miss it. A bit of trivia. there is another Inter one serial number from this one last seen in California. That one has been restored. The owner should buy this one! Canadian buyers are subject to sales tax. Shipping this to the USA or anywhere else is not a problem.
