That the 'dawn of motoring' more or less took place in France is a fact where not manypeople are familiar with..
The French Koehler-Escoffier marque was founded in Lyon in November 1912 by partners Marcel Koehler, n engineer and Jules Escoffier, ho had previously been employed at Magnat-Debon as a works rider/mechanic. Escoffier died in 1914 and at the war's end Koehler sold the firm, hich was acquired by another engineer, aymond Guignet. These days Koehler-Escoffier is best remembered for its Guiguet-designed, verhead-camshaft 'Mandoline' 500cc single, o called because of the shape of the timing cover and cam drive, nd the closely related 1,000cc ohc v-twin, hich was unique at the time of its introduction in 1927.Manufacturing these expensive, elatively low-volume models, oth of which were underdeveloped, ffectively crippled Koehler-Escoffier, hich was taken over by Monet-Goyon in 1929. From then onwards the two ranges became virtually identical, ost models featuring Villiers two-stroke engines.
Like the pictures are showing this rare twinport sports-bike has many nice details which makes it a pleasure to look at.
It has spent its life in the south of France, here the mild and dry climate has helped the bike to survive over the decades.
Thepaint is not nice and showing many traces of age and use (patina).The panelwork is showing after over seven decades some light dry surface rust on places and a few dings etc. but is solid and has no holes rusted through.The engine is turning over, s complete, as good compression and appears to be in an unmolested condition, o don't think it will take much to get it going again.
Personally I regardthe condition where it is in not as something really disturbing, achines from this era and in this condition are getting much harder to find and now often command prices higher than nicely restored equivalents.
This machine has never been road-registered and comes with an official European certificate of origin which states the make, odel, ear, isplacement, eight etc. and an official bill of sale from my company here in Belgium. Furthermore I’ll make sure that all the correct export-paperwork will be in place before the bike leaves from here, hich documents will make the process of importing it into the US an easy ride.-On this listing I’moffering a special (fully sealed) m'cycle crate, areful packing and physical shipping from here in Belgium to a US Cfs as close as possible to you at my expense.Please note; In case the bike needs to be shipped to another destination than the US, lease ask whether I can offer you such a deal as well before placing a bid (mostly this is not a problem, ut then it’s always better tomake sure).
Furthermore, hen you want to receive some better photo's of the bike/shipping, r want to recieve more information about this item, ust let me know.-Additional information to this listing;
The bike has after 75 yearstraces of use and age (patina).I only offer shipping by sea, here of course we can advise you on forehand about the process of importing the machine into your country. Like can be read in the link,this antique bikeis because of its age and displacement exempt from US import-duty and EPA regulations;https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/278/~/importing-classic-or-antique-vehicles-%2F-cars-for-personal-use
