Like many other motorcycle companies, awa has its roots in the armaments industry, ormed in1929when Czechoslovakia's National Arms factory diversified into motorcycle manufacture afterobtainingthe rights to a design from the German Wanderer firm.
Company founder Frantisek Janacek combined the first two letters of his last name and the firsttwoletters in Wanderer to create the Jawa marque.
In 1949 Jawa's operations were combined with those of rivals CZ, nd throughout the succeedingdecades the consolidated company's main claim to fame was an outstanding run of success in theInternational Six Days Trial enduro and international motocross. Using a mixture of Jawa and CZmachines, zechoslovakia first won the ISDT in 1947 and would go on to take a further six titles upto 1962.
This really nice 1957 Jawa 175 Junior model looks like it must have done when it was in its juvenile days, where also today it still starts instantly, s running very strong, andles really well, here also the gearbox is shifting fine and everything works like should.
The paint and chrome are in a nice condition (see images) and the spokes as well as the complete electrical wiring have been recently renewed.
This motorcycle comes with a clean European (Dutch) title which states that is was first road-registered on February 6th 1958 and an official bill of sale from my company here in Belgium.
