1968 Jaguar XKE- I have for sale a nice numbers matching series 1.5 E-type coupe 2+2.It has the 4.2 liter with 4 speedmanual transmission. I bought the carfrom the 2nd owner he had owned the car since the late seventies. The car is very original with only a repaint in the early eighties, he odometer shows a little over 39,685 miles that he believed to be original but I can not verify that. He said the car was driven sparingly by both owners and kept garaged all of it's life. The last 5-10 years the Jaguar had only been started and occasionally driven around his neighborhood block. I bought the car and stored it for a while then had aimport specialist completely go through the car from front to back mechanically. I spent close to 11k in repairto the car from hoses, elts, arburetors rebuilt, ack & pinion, pper & lower ball joints, earing, rake calipers, ads, aster cylinder,sparkplugs/wires, lutch slave cylinder and the lists goeson. I have a detailed invoice ofeverything done to the car that will be posted in thelisting.
The overall cosmetic condition of the car is a nice driver quality, he car looks like a original close to 50 year old car with one repaint. The painthas a nice shine and looks good from 5-10 feet but up closeshows it's age. Has chips, racks andwear etc,I have tried to take as many pictures as possible to show the paint overall condition. The chrome bumper are also is similar condition showing there age withtypicalpitting and thewireknock off wheels have light surface rustbut still in good shape. All the glass is in great shape but the seals have dry rot and will need toreplaced down the line. The worst seal is the back window which I have a new seal but just never installed (will go with the car).
The interior is in overall really good shape, o cracks in dash andstill has the original leather seats, hey haveanice worn weathered look but no rips tears. The back carpet is in nice shape but the carpet will need to be replacedin the driver and passenger floor boards. Itcurrently has the black OEM type rubber mats with jaguar emblem down that coverthe floorboards so that's why I didn't replace carpet. All the gauges are in excellent shape, headliner as well. Theoriginal wood telescopic isalso is good shape.
The driver side floorboard has some rust that will at some point need to be addressed down the road, here is a silver dollar size hole that is starting to come through on the upperdriverfloorboard area. I will post pictures of the car on a rack sometime the 1st of this week. There is no other area of rust on the car so this should be a pretty easy fix to address downline. All the gauges work expect the clock and the tachometer intermittingly works. All the exterior lights work, orn, urning signals, tc. The car is afactory AC car but I have not been able to get the AC towork.
Since getting theJaguar back from having spent close to$11,000 onit I havetried to drive it on the weekend to work it through it's paces. It is cold naturedlike most all Jaguars but once warmed up idlesvery nice with no knocks orweird sounds. They did a compression check and all cylinders checked out between 130-150. The carruns very well and the brakes work great since been totally replaced. The car shifts pretty well, nd gearhas a light grind sometimes is clutch is not fully engaged.Again the slave cylinder was replacedand fluids as wellbut mechanic thought the pressure plate or worn disc might need to be addressed sometime down the road. I am trying to be up front and honest with everything about this car so there is nosurprises to bidders or the individual that wins the auction. I have 3 video on you tube I am going to link to the listing, ne that is atestdrive of the Jaguar.
Overall this is a great original driver quality Jaguar XKE that mechanically is very sound. If you are looking for a perfect show car this is not for you. I have perfect feedback and have sold several cars on ebay before so bid with confidence. Also please email me or call me with any questions that I will be more than happy to answer as best as possible. I will work with anyone on having the car shipped either throughout the US or internationally. I am requiring a $1000 deposit with the rest being cash, ertified check or wire transfer within 7 days. I can also store the car for up to 30 days at no charge once the car has been paid. Please DO NOT BID unless you have good feedback and plan on buying the car!
