Description

1971 Toyota FJ55 -- “Iron Pig” Land Cruiser. Amazingly Original!!This is painful to sell. 1971 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55 “Iron Pig” in original and stunning condition. This truck is beautiful inside and out and elicits jaw-dropping enthusiasm from Land Cruiser aficionados. A rare truck and even more rare in this condition. Most everything is original -- and in fantastic shape. Only a few dings and paint touch-ups otherwise it was extremely well-taken care of. These FJ55’s usually have rust issues -- this one does not. All sheet metal is original. California vehicle it’s whole life and very little rust. The engine was recently gone through by a Land Cruiser specialist shop. Recent full tune-up including valve adjustment. points. condensor. coil. air filter. fuel filter. etc. along with carburetor rebuild. Compression test indicates 133-145psi per cylinder for a clean bill of health. Engine runs strong and has full power. 4WD works fine. Original “3 on the tree” transmission shifts well. Overall the truck is smooth and blast to drive. The interior looks great with little wear and no rips or cracks. Vinyl is supple and in fantastic shape. Everything works as expected. all lights. etc. even the original AM/FM radio and stock box speaker. Headliner is in good shape. Carpet is in generally good shape (a few marks in the rear compartment). All jack components are there. including the extra engine crank. Although the truck is 44 years old. it has amassed only 101K original miles…. and it shows. It’s probably the nicest non-restored Cruiser I’ve ever seen. Drives very well. good power and no issues. Nothing needs to be done…. Tires are new. Rear electric window works perfectly. Trailer hitch. All glass is original with no cracks. Truck looks new from 10 feet away. Of course. with a stock truck of this vintage. there are a few imperfections:The vinyl on the instrument panel is separated slightly from the speedometer The rear-view mirror glass has a corner crackMedium dent on the roof -- out of view Small 2” touched-up ding on the rear gate (pictured)Small paint scrape on bumper. near trailer-hitch (pictured)There looks to be a few patches of rust under the roof sheet metal that causes some paint distortion around the gutters. But this rust has not come through to effect the outer sheet metal or through the paint. I tried to capture this (pictured) but it’s hard to see. There is probably some rust around or underneath the roof gutters as all these trucks have it…. but it appears stable and isn't generally noticeable. There seems to be no sign of rust underneath the chassis or anywhere else. Other than those items…. the truck is amazing and lots of fun! Please email me with any questions. I have additional pictures (eBay only allows 24) and can forward them via email. Thanks. /p>-Chris
