This Bike has nothing issues other than the speedometer is off by about 10 miles per hour. Most everything isoriginal including the paint and the seat. there is a fine line crack in the rear plastic seat which are not noticeable and look like they could be a scratch. Front fairing is perfect and looks like new.Tires are about 1 year old with less than a 1000 miles on then. (Metzler lasertech). Wheel bearing are perfect and run true and smooth.Mechanically Perfect and the carbs have been recently synced. Starts with or with out use of the choke. The engine has been upgraded from a 650cc to 850cc with a BMW factory kit installed by a local BMW dealer I was told in Ventura county CA.The engine upgrade included a new rear drive splines.Comes with the original bill of sale and registration from April 23rd 1982 and sold at the time for $3750.00 from a Dealer in MedfordOregon. It comes with afolder full ofreceiptsof work done on the bike including may old catalogs from the 80's and 90's.Shocks have been upgraded with Marzocchi's very early in its life if not when purchased.Recently I have changed oil (engine, ransmission, ear end) new spark plugs and spark plug wires.Tachometer appears to be accurate.seat is in perfect condition with no damage.Note the unusual metal and enamel BMW emblems on tank and rear seat.Dual Brembo brakes on the front work very well. Very little ware on the brake shoes in the back and pads in the front.Book pictures is not included but on page 4 of the Hanes service and repair manual for BMW 2 valve twins 70-96 you will find the r65ls.Winner is responsible for paying and arranging shipment of the bike, will be glad to assist.I have been using this bike to commute to work 40 miles a day with out issue and continue to ride. the bike runs very smooth and is quitepowerfulwith the 851 cc engine.there is no smoke from engine and no unusual sound.I am the 3rd owner of this bike for the past year. The original owner had to sell because of age i was told by the second owner (who did not drive it much only had it a few months.)I apparently sat for 10 years in a garage. Tank in in perfect shape in and out. This bike is I feel is destined to become a real classic, ts a snapshot of the 80's from the time of Star Wars (the movie).Mileage it probable not correct. Bike of this generation had problems with accuracy issues. Compared to a GPS its off by 10mph and 12% in distance put the millage to be at most 16,000.miles.Considering the bike was upgraded with new cylinder and pistons there is lest miles on the engine since upgradePlease note: the bar end mirrors seen in some of the pictures have been replaced with the original black mirrors. The bike is a fun ride and handles well in the Twisties.I am only selling it because of a lack of room and I have 3 other bikes and keep the family harmony. :(

From the internetThis Bike came out during the Star wars and was dubbed the "Flash Bike" at the timeThat same yearsaw the release of the BMWR65LS — a sleek, porty version of the standard R65. With its out-of-this-world design, ou have to wonder if LS designer Hans Muth and Lucas weren't drinking from the same punch bowl. BMW hired Muth, ho had already put his stamp on the original Suzuki Katana, o create an edgy, ffordable sport/touring bike for a market that was increasingly being won over by an innovative Japan. With its sharp angles and sporting disposition, uth's creation sparked a definitive "love it" or "hate it" reaction — and it still does today.
