This touring classic is in overall very good to excellent condition for its age. This bike runs like a champion and rides as comfortably as your favorite living room couch! It starts quickly and easily. Idles perfectly at 1000 RPM. has snappy throttle response and can cruise all day long at 85-100 MPH (please obey speed limits). All mechanical and electrical are in good working order. I've kept up on all the necessary maintenance items like oil changes. spark plug/plug wire replacement. etc. Because it has electronic ignition. there's no points to adjust or maintain. As far as condition of finish. there is some normal. light wear and tear but nothing that takes away from it's overall beauty! Just jump on it and ride! THIS BIKE HAS A CLEAN AND CLEAR TITLE in my name. All numbers on this bike match and are original to this bike since new. I have authority to sign off title to the new owner on receipt of your cleared payment. In 1981. Harley Davidson's senior executives bought back the company and traded quantity for quality. By 1983. Harley worked out all the bugs in their drive trains and they considered the 1983 shovelhead engine as the best of it's kind. Add to that the 5 speed transmission and you have a touring bike that had no rival. The FLHT was Harley's answer for customers who wanted to keep the look of the traditional FLH model. but who wanted a 5 speed transmission. a rubber mounted 80 cubic inch engine. spoke front wheel and the traditional batwing fairing mounted to the front end. It was the best of all worlds and the FLHT was an instant success! This was the bike that inspired the future of what we now consider as Harley's modern FLH touring line. This bike has several upgrades that make it even more awesome than the original. It has a relatively new S&S Super E carburetor (6 months old. approx 1000 miles). a K&N air filter and Rinehart dual exhaust. This exhaust system gives this bike an awesome rumble! The rounded leather-like tour pack mounted behind the passenger seat in my opinion. gives this bike a cleaner look than the big bulky tour paks. Also a small but nice detail is the cigarette lighter style plug-in on the right side cover. Use it as you would with any other cigarette lighter plug in. as a charging port for your electronic devices or to charge the battery without having to remove the side cover. I even converted one end of my motorcycle jumper cables to a male cigarette plug and keep them in my saddlebags in the even that I ever need a jump start. Ride this bike home! I'm located in the Phoenix. AZ area (zip 85236) You'll really enjoy the ride! If you plan to have it picked up by a shipper or will come with a trailer. I'm willing to assist you in a limited capacity (i. e. paperwork on my end. being available when your truck arrives. etc. ) Due to a back injury. I cannot assist in loading/pushing this motorcycle up the ramps of your truck or trailer. nor will I ride it up your ramp(s).
