For sale. a beautifully restored 1977 Honda CB400F. The cognescenti will recognize that this bike was done up as a 1975 version of the bike. with blue tank and sidecovers. and the lower handlebar of the earlier bike. The sole remaining difference is the footpegs - the 77 pegs were very slightly more forward. and more comfortable in my opinion. But if you prefer. I retained the stock 77 yellow bodywork. and it will be included in the sale. although it is unrestored. No expense was spared in the restoration of this motorcycle. nearly every part was repainted or replated or replaced with new old stock (NOS) or highest quality reproduction parts. The tank and sidecovers are repro parts and so spotless within. but were professionally painted and striped. and the decals and stripes were then clearcoated. Exhaust is new repro. rims front and rear are new OEM DiD. re-laced with new sealed bearings. rim strips and tires. Seat is NOS Honda. front and rear fenders are new reproduction parts. Steering head bearings were replaced with tapered roller bearings. All engine and transmission seals were replaced along with several transmission bearings. NOS Honda wiring harness installed. new headlight and shell. new reproduction turnsignals. NOS Honda handlebar switchpods. NOS handlebar. mirrors. grips. rubbers. grommets. hardware throughout. Fork tubes are new reproduction parts. and has new dust and oil seals. new Racetech fork spring. plus Racetech GoldValve cartridge emulators. sprung for a 180lb rider. New repro rear shocks. New repro chain guard. New bronze swingarm bushings. Frame. swingarm and side and centerstands and tripleclamp were all powdercoated. New battery. Ignition is state of the art C5 optical electronic breakerless. with high energy coils. new plug wires and caps. ALL stock ignition components were retained and the installation of the C5 was done with no cutting or tapping into the stock wiring harness. and so is totally reversible. Starter was rebuilt. as were the carburetors. new carb insulators. Engine was repainted and wears NOS side covers for ignition and alternator. New clutch springs and cable/adjuster. new throttle cables. New brake lines. shoes and pads. front caliper and master cylinder were all rebuilt with new seals and the caliper was repainted. Front rotor was ground. drilled and the center repainted. New chain and sprockets. New sprocket cush rubbers. All alloy other than engine was vapour blasted and then hand finished to beautiful satin finish (wheel hubs. sprocket carrier and brake panel. fork legs). Starts and runs very well. has less than 50 miles on it since engine top-end was refreshed. so still needs a bit of break-in. It is frankly beautiful. sorry if that's immodest. I didn't design it. I just restored it. and I will be sad to see it go. I built it for my wife hoping to rekindle her interest in motorcycling. but it was not to be. It is a beautiful little jewel of a bike. and anywhere I have taken it people have really enjoyed it. including to its first bike show last week here in Tucson. where it took first place in the Japanese bike category. I'm asking $6. 00 as a "Buy it Now" for the bike. which is far less than I spent restoring it. nevermind 200+ hours of my time. As above. the sale will include the original stock yellow bodywork which is a little rough. and the stock breaker point ignition. coils and sparkplug wires. which are in good condition. The bike is in Tucson. Arizona. It has a California registration and title. and I will ensure that no fees are owed upon transfer. I'd be happy to answer any and all questions you may have about the bike. please feel free to ask anything you want to know.
