I have here an awesome opportunity to buy and finish yourself a 1948 panhead. Its a really sought after year due to being the first year panhead and last year of the springer frontend. In my opinion the most beautiful and best running classic bike Harley made. (I have another that is my main daily driver)This is a great start. It is made up of mostly (95%) OEM Original parts. It is securely bolted together as a roller with correct axles. spacers. and Hardware. This makes it easy to transport and or move around the shop. Also saves you the trouble of figuring out how it goes together and finding the right pieces haha. Please look at all pictures for part of the description. The frame is OEM but needs love to be a full fledged restoration. I dont see why it couldnt be used as is thought depending on your desired build. abobber or what not. It is infact a 1948 only frame with smooth front down tubes and fish hook top motor mount! The front end is an original offset springer with casting numbers intact. The transmission is of panhead/knucklehead era. I honestly dont remember the exact year but it is OEM harley not repo junk case. It has gears and most guts but will need rebuild. The lid is a jockey shif but will also need guts. The kicker cover is a later panhead cover that has been chromed but is also OEM. Crusty old Primary appears OEM. There are no guts in primary cover. OEM oil tank crusty outside but clean and soild inside! Battery tray OEM. Star hub wheels are reproduction with brand new tires and tubes all balanced ready to roll. The brake drum appears OEM but has no inerds. The handle bars are super groovy but looks like the have been trough some stuff for being 70ish years old. They have had some welding repairs but seem straight and usable. HOLLY WOOD baby! The tanks are OEM Pan tanks. The rear fender appears to be Original 3 piece but the front fender if definitely repo one piece stamped. The motor was rebuilt in the 90s and has been in dry storage since. I pulled the top end to take a look and it has std bore pistons and looks really good. (new base gaskets replaced by me) Its an OEM cam cover that was chromed as I can see the casting through the generator hole. It also has old chrome aluminum lifter blocks. early pan stuff! The heads are oring style later heads but looked to be nice and reconditioned. I see no broken fins on the cylinders and heads. It has what looks to be a rebuilt m35tp linkert carb which is correct for 48 panhead I think. The cases have matching 48 belly numbers. The cases look to be pretty good condition. I don't see any repairs or previous welds anywhere. I have a clean and clear title in my name. Its a 1948 Harley FL title that matches the 4 digit VIN on LEFT case. I have done my best describing the bike/project. Now its up to you to use the pictures I've taken to do your best to win it via bidding NO RESERVE against others. I will accept the deposit only via paypal. I will need the remainder payment made via wire transfer. certified check or cash in person. If paying by other means just ask. Full payment must clear my account before the bike leaves my possession. Dont expect to hand me a check and drive out of here with the bike the same day. I will be attending the AMCA meet in oley PA and denton NC and can deliver bike there for free assuming it is paid for in advance as space is limited in my vehicle. please ask any other questions you need to know prior to auction ending.
